Just Kidding, she's still a cutie pie.

My doggies DNA test came back 50% beagle,,,,which i figured. The other half was mixed breeds....none of the percentages were high enough to be of any significance. My girl is all beagle....she looks and acts like one...loves to tree squirrels. I take it one of here parents must have been pure breed beagle to account for the 50% ???

Maggie's results showed her Great Gparents were Chihuahua, her Gparents were Chihuahua and her parents were Chihuahua. I contacted the company and questioned their results. They asked for pictures for their scientists to review for the possibility of a sample mix up. It will be interesting to see what they have to say. She had 3 blood transfusions while in the hospital, I wonder if that affected the results?

I am not familiar with characteristics of the Chihuahua breed, but Maggie acts like what we used to call a "nose hound". On our walks she is constantly sniffing the ground and following the scents she picks up. She rarely barks and then it is usually only one bark.

I would think a blood transfusion would definitely muddy the waters!
So glad to hear Maggie is recovering, I can only imagine how horrifying being attacked was for you and her.
By sharing this you have at least made the rest of us think about protection for ourselves and our pets. My chi is a very social dog on walks, probably not a good thing. I think at the very least I need a nice stout walking stick.

The comments about there are more people and pets attacked by poodles than pit bulls-give me a break! I would much rather be attacked by a poodle than a pit! I am sure Maggie feels the same!

We are so happy that Maggie is doing good. Oh BTW, I showed her picture to our little bichon (Zazu) and he did a back flip and said "wow, she's a hottie!" he then winked and started panting!

I know of no law that would prevent the police from providing you with the name and address of the attackers owners! The only reason for them doing what they did is because they are the little white spot on top of that stuff found in a chicken pen!

As a matter of fact, all the records in their office is subject to the foia except that which may effect the outcome of an official investigation.

Fact is, pet owners have a blind spot where their pets are concerned, and their unfortunate view is that OTHER dogs might be bad - but THEIRS is a totally harmless and loving darling that wouldn't harm a flea. They also seemingly assume all others around them have the same blind spot, and are as in love with their pets as they are...

BUT, most common pets are ANIMALS, and at various times and situations, can turn vicious and violently unpredictable in a HEARTBEAT - just as in the case of this thread!

If I owned and operated an RV park, you can bet it would be off limits to dogs - yeah, there would be unhappy RVers turned away - but those still in the park would be VERY happy - and far safer with one less potential nuisance or danger to face...

And for the record, and the critics, we love dogs, have had and enjoyed them most of our 75+years - but never assumed ours was an angel, and treated them like loaded guns - too bad most other owners refuse to do the same!
An RV Park that doesn't allow dogs? I don't think you'd have much business. It seems that just about every Class A owner that I run into has a little dog or two. It is rare that they don't.

I had the owners name and address right after the attack from one of their neighbors who is a friend of ours. Of course that was unofficial. The police department told me that I would have to subpoena the report to get an "uncensored" copy. The funny thing is, the animal control report wasn't "censored".

On the advice of an attorney I sent a letter asking the owner to pay my expenses or get their home owners insurance involved. I sent the letter certified mail and they refused delivery. I guess they have no intention of accepting responsibility.

My first (certified mail) letter was refused. I sent the second one signature confirmation required with no return address and that one was delivered. I finally got a response and she blames mine and Maggie's fear as the reason her "angel of a dog" attacked us. She said she feels some responsibility and because she has no job and no money she will pay me "some amount at a future date". She also said she doesn't want to involve her parents home owners insurance with her problem.

I contacted a lawyer referral service and they referred me to a lawyer who will work on my case only on a per hour basis. I may have the lawyer write one letter and see if that gets any results otherwise it's small claims court.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the entire legal system.

Years ago a neighbors Rott tried to attack our mini schnauzer and me. I got knocked down and injured my wrist and required hospital treatment. He claimed no responsibility as it was his daughters dog and he was just keeping for a couple of weeks. After a few letters demanding payment for my medical services, no response. They put the house on the market and moved. I tracked him down through the real estate agent and had an attorney send a demand letter. A couple of weeks later, I received a call from his home owners insurance. They were very nice and wanted copies of all of my cost and wanted to know what it would take to settle the case.

They could not understand why he had not turned it over to the insurance company sooner. The dog was on his property when it attacked us in the street and he was responsibility.

Demand that the dog owners let the insurance company know about the attack.

The attack happened at a City Park and not at the owners home. According to the lawyers I have spoken with they are under no obligation to involve their homeowners insurance.

Then your only recouse might be through civil action. What are the limitations on small claims court in your area? Might be couse to follow.

My lattack was on public street in front of his home.

Small Claims limit is $10,000 as of Jan 1. Last year it was $7500. I have conflicting info on whether I can sue for $7500 as the attack happened last year or $10,000 as I am filing this year.
