Doggie foot protectors

We're taking our new dog, Duke, a 60lb lab mix, to South Texas with us for the first time this year. First time for us too. I've heard there may be ground "burrs" that will stick in the dogs feet. Does anyone have any experiene in that part of Texas? Should we get some type of foot protectors for Duke? Thanks.

The burrs will get into the fur on long hair dogs, but the goat-heads will stick to everything. Over the years we have noticed that the burrs and stickers are the worst in the "maintained areas".

For our dog, we have some of the nylon boots for wehen we have bad burrs.

I have a couple pairs of these for my dog. They have a rubber sole, and are thin nylon on the top. They would certainly protect the bottom of their feet. I haven't been around any ground burrs, but they would certainly protect the bottom of their feet.

The sandspurs seem to vary campground to campground. We were in Fulton and the campground had sandspurs everywhere (grass was more weeds than grass). Now we are in Corpus and I can walk barefoot around our site. There's not a whole lot of grass in the first place but I also hate, despise and loathe shoes and don't mind walking in dirt. If you think your pet will wear the booties, then get them. They really aren't the pricey but it would be better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them. You may not need them in the campground but you may need them in the various dog walk areas while traveling.
