Bailey had both of her rear legs rebuilt last summer and we faced a similar issue. We tried several options and found the the best solution for us was a portable deck once we parked and a hand sling when we stopped along the way.

The deck was purchased through Sunrise Decks and RV Products ( http://www.sunriservproducts.com/index.html ) and a portable ramp similar to the one at dogramp.com. Although the telescopic ramp was easier to store, I donated a little blood to the effort and it is gathering dust in the garage. We ended up using a belly strap to assist Bailey in and out of the camper with a sling like the ones sold through http://handicappedpets.biz/xcart/fle...lly-sling.html .

I modified the deck and can put it together or tear it down in less than twenty minutes. If you have the room for storage and stay in one place for several days at a time, the deck would make life easier. Although Bailey is now able to go up and down the camper's steps, Betty likes the deck up when we anywher for more than a couple of days. When Betty and Bailey are happy, so is Thomas.

If you have any other questions, I would be glad to help.

We tried a couple of different ramps for our dogs and they were not user friendly at all. Purchased Petloader pet steps and solved a big issue. They fit nicely on mh steps, dogs love them, and they are great for us people also (easier on knees than mh steps).Try petloader.com.
