we just spent four months in Florida on the Indian River. About every evening I would take the dogs for a ride in the boat. they loved it and looked forward to the ''ride'' every day. They would run from the coach to the boat and try to jump in without much success. I became known around the campground as the ''Man in the Hat,,,,, With the dogs''.......
Here is a pix a guy took and gave it to me. Gypsy is the one setting on my shoulder. She was the smallest so she served as ''Look OUt''.... Thanks to her we were never attacked by a Manatee or one of those savage ducks......

We sailed up the Nile, we'd gone for a while
my Gypsy and Finnie and Gus Gus and me.
We sailed right along on our lips was a song
and our hearts, they were so full of glee
We saw great big birds and we said not a word
for fear they would see us you see
'Cause we are stranges here, we were plum out of Beer
my Gypsy and Finnie and Gus gus and me.
And Finnie kept watch and Gypsy slept in and Gus Gus
he guarded you see…..
Cause birds would attack and never bring back the big jelly sandwich to me
And onward we rode avoiding a toad
My Gypsy and Finnie and Gus Gus and me....
The weather was clear but a big cloud hung near where lightning and thunder there be.
And rain drops fall down and we feared we might drown in our small ship way out on the sea.
So we turned right around and everyone frowned as the rain pelted on us you see..........
And we sped right along no one singing a song
My Gypsy and Finnie and Gus Gus and me...
We rounded the bend and came home again
with happiness there's gonna' to be..
And Missie came out and said with a shout
''Where the hell have you been'' not showing a grin to
My Gypsy and Finnie and Gus Gus and me
''You aint comin' in 'cause you'r soaked to the skin''
''on my floor you aint gonna be''
An umbrella she tossed out the door, it was lost
and shivering under were we..
With the rain pouring down we were wearing a frown
My Gypsy and Finnie and Guss Guss and me
So outside we stand with umbrella in hand and the rain drippin' over you see
The adventure was done and we'd had lots of fun
My Gypsy and Finnie and Gus Gus and me...........
RE ENTERED FROM AN EARLIER POST.
HOPE IT IS OK ......Seajay the sailor man.....

You sure that's a dog and not a parrot on your shoulder sailor man after seeing this I am not sure on the need for the pee pad as you could put her in a Kleenex box and she would still have room. Great story. And safe travels

Having seen the photo now, I promise as a good Marine, not to ever say a bad word about you again.
It is with deepest sympathy that I see that you have to look at that thing every day when and if you shave.
My what good looking dogs !!!

(note to admin. This may be a re print. When you get old your forget...Seajay..)
She sneaks in bed with me about every morning. She tip toes in and quietly assumes a place in my arms. Sometimes she will softly sneak up to my pillow and give me a butter fly kiss on the cheek before she lays down for me to cuddle her. She loves to have her belly scratched very softly. She will stretch out and lay on her back to expose her soft tummy and look at me with big brown eyes and sometimes give me another kiss on the chin when I am rubbing just right on her tummy. Often times she will doze off laying in my arms knowing I will watch over her and let no harm come to her as she sleeps peacefully resting her head on my arm. Sometimes I will just lay there and watch her sleep. I listen to her breathing and remember all the tribulations she has gone thru in her life. She was never appreciated or loved or even cared for by the previous man in her life. She was mistreated and simply tossed away like yesterdays garbage when she was of no use any longer. She came into my life by pure accident. It was fate that brought her to me and a love was born when I first looked into those big brown eyes.
We have been together for a long time now. Each of us learning from the other and each of us giving and getting love and comfort from the other. About every day we will walk together. No particular destination or purpose of the walk just the ambiance of togetherness and the trust in each other that we, each will keep the other safe regardless of unknown circumstances. I can feel the warmth of her love for me and I just know she feels the same. She will stroll along looking at me and I feel wonderful to be in her company. Sometimes folks will stop us and tell us what a cute couple we are and how they so admire her for her charm, that pretty face and those ever present big brown eyes that will just melt your heart.
Every day I thank God for bringing her into my life and it is my prayer that she will be with me until I die. When that eventually happens I have made instructions that I should be cremated and at her death she will be cremated and our ashes mixed together and we shall spend eternity wrapped in each others arms forever along with Willa, Gus and Finnie ...........
Did I mention that ''her'' name is Gypsy, our ''toy'' Yorkshire Terrier that Willa found on the side of the road?
God bless our troops and bring them home soon and safe …...

This is Gypsys at about 4 months. She is looking at Max, probably the first bird she has ever seen ''close up'' and I am sure Gypsy is the first ''dog'' Max has ever seen ..''close up''.. they both lost interest very quickly.
note. Yorkies change colors as they mature. Most start out in ''silver coat'' and slowly change over to orange. some have ''up ears'' and some have ''floppie ears''.... No matter, they make wonderful pets and I still find it hard to believe someone just ''threw her away in a side ditch'' but it actually happened..... this is how big she was when we got her. She was full of curiosity and afraid of most everything. She would not eat out of a bowl of food or drink out of a cup of water. everything had to be ''dumped in the floor '' for her to eat or drink......
Tks for vets.... We love the freedom you gave us...

Seajay, we have 3 Yorkies and love each one of them the same. They make every trip with us and seem to know when we are even planning a trip. We have two tiny toys and one toy. One male and two females. They end up sleeping with us every night, at home or on the road. When we ask them if they are ready to go camping, they jump around and head for the door. I would never, never think of hitting the road without them. To us they are a part of our lives and always will be.

My little "Cricket " sits on my shoulder just like your Gypsy, everyone asks if she's a monkey or a dog. Rides around my neck like a scarf if we go into a department store. Thank goodness she's only six pounds. Cricket seems to think I'm a peice of furniture though, walks all over me and buries her cookies under me. I roll over at night and find dog biscuits imbedded into my side.

Finnious Foghorn Farnsworth from Fillidelphia
This is Finnious (Finnie to his friends).... (Mr. Farnsworth to all others)
We already had one Papilon (sp) dog when Willa and I got married. His name is Gus Gus. You have to repeat his name sometimes twice to get his attention but he is a good dog and I shall cover him later.
Willa got the bright idea that we needed another dog for Gus to play with and she started searching the web for one. She found a lady down in Winston Salem that breeds Pap's and she looked at her web sight and guess who was on it and for sale for the paltry amount of a kings ransom from some small foreign country that I cant pronounce. Her computer desk is back to back with mine and I kept seeing this pix of a dog on her screen. I asked if she was looking to buy another dog and she said ''NO'' ….”I am just LOOKING''
Yeah sure. That is like a sailor with a months pay standing in front of a house of ''ill repute'' and he is ''JUST LOOKING''
Willa finally asked me what I would like for my birthday which was upcoming in a couple weeks. I mentioned a new Lambrogeini (sp) and she said the garage was already full of other toys. ''How bout a new Monico. Nope, we got a motor home.''.... She finally said she would ''pick me out something''..
Several days later she mentioned that she was going to ''take a trip'' and she would be gone most of the day. I asked if she was ''Taking money?''........''NOPE, I am just looking right now''. ''Are you takin a dog box?''...... “NOPE, What gave you that idea?''....''Get a dog box and a 'short stack' and be careful. I will see you at supper''.............
Four hours later the back door opened and in bounded the biggest ball of love, puppie peeee, yapping, bounding, running, sniffing, barking ton of fun you have ever seen.
''Happy Birthday''. His name is Finnie but we can change it if we like. He and Gus bonded immediately. Nipping and playing and acting like they had been litter mates. The strange thing is that Gus was about nine years old. Set in his ways and kinda grumpy at times. I truly believe the puppy brought him to life. Gus learned to ''PLAY'', chasing a ball and pulling a ''tug toy'' with Finnie. Rolling on the floor and playing chase and catch and bonding with the puppie in every way. Willa said she was not sure if they would ''bond'' and she worried about that till she saw them together playing.
Like all puppies Finnie loved to ''chew'' on stuff. I wound up with three sets of sneakers with the right shoe missing, one or two pairs of jeans with the crotch chewn out of same, many sox with the toe gone, thank God all my sox are alike, one cord chewn into on a power supply for my computer, 75 bucks to replace, two lamp cords eaten in two pieces, thank God they were un plugged and a mired of other stuff destroyed like the leg on the chest of drawers in the guest room. We finally got smart enough to buy some ''Dog Yuckkie Stuff'' to spray on everything but we had to be careful what we touched and then put our fingers close to our mouth.
We house trained him to a ''Puppy Pad'' and he learned that anything on the floor was a ''Puppie Pad''. We finally got it across to him that the ''puppy pad'' was the white thing in the guest bathroom and some of the time he would actually ''HIT'' it when he ''went''.... Gus was house trained and we started taking him and Guss out on the front porch. This worked out well till the UPS MAN had to walk thru the mine field. Solution, Fence in the back yard.... Poof.... Three grand shot to heck....but they have a place to ''play and poop now''....
Finnie has matured now. He has developed his own personality and has found his place in the hi-rockery of the food chain. He is kinda ''second boss dog'' after Guss but they get along very well and they have never ''fought'' over anything. They are very jealous of each other and will battle for the good place on the lap or the hand that is doing the ''scratching''.
Strange how Guss is very vocal on some things and Finnie is very vocal on different things. Guss will let us know when its time to ''come in''. Finnie will bounce and spin when it is time to go outside. Both dogs will announce supper time or any meal or food or treats or anything that can be eaten by people or dogs or both. They both will get aggressive over a cold biscuit hard as stone and covered in sand or a pile of rabbit poop or a dead fish or anything else that they find to eat. All our dogs are fed Science Diet and it is just a tiny bit cheaper than prime rib steaks and they will eat stuff that you could not force on them.
Finnie is a good dog with his own personality and he adds much to this family. Finnie has the ''long hair show coat'' and he comes from champions in his blood line. The lady that sold him to us made a deal that if or when we ever wanted to or had to get rid of him that she got first refusal and would match any real offer for the dog. She loves her puppies and she raises champions and she is very selective to whom she sells a dog. If she dont feel good about you, you dont get one of her puppies and she will tell you that right from the start. We send her regular updates on Finnie and how he is doing. She has him listed on her web sight now.
This is getting long and boring to some of you I am sure but if you are a dog lover, as we are, you know how long winded old people can get about their pets.
Finnie is our friend and we love him. When he dies he will be cremated and his ashes will be mixed with mine and Willas and Guss Guss and Gypsy and we shall all spend eternity together. Not a bad way to go I say......
ps. he is cute enough to be a girl but he is actually a boy
I am getting kinda burned out with us trying to police the world. Lets ask someone to bring our guys and gals home so we can have a BIG PARADE with bands and beer and flags and vets and all that other stuff........ God bless our troops......

Finnie is an interesting name. In my home county in the UK (Lancashire) there's a soccer team called "Preston North End". Their most famous player of all time was Tom (now Sir Thomas) Finney.
