My names Chris(Christina) I have introduced myself in several areas.. I see some of you have pets with special needs. Our dog Brandi(a wienie mix) we found out the week of Thanksgiving last year, has IVDD. And so she strictly can not jump or walk steps. My poor Brandi has been left with a friend everytime we go out camping. We just got a new to us 1976 Winnebago Chieftain and are now in the process of trying to fix it up. I really want to find a way to take her with us. But trying to figure out how to build a ramp...On top of where do you store it lol. What are your experiences with your pets with special needs. I am so scared I will take her out in the boonies somewhere and she will get hurt again, And I wont be able to get her to the vet!!! We barely escaped paralysis last time. What are your suggestions? I know I can put her in her cage for travel. But maybe its me being scared out of my mind of her getting hurt...
Chris

Our blind PBGV has been traveling with us the last 3 years. He does walk up and down steps so a ramp is not necessary. He rides in a collapsible crate when we are on the road and we have a folding wire pen we use when he is outside. We always keep him on a leash when he is out of the enclosures. When we are going to be gone from camp for the day and can't take him with us, we place him in Doggie Day Care. I think he loves to travel as much as we do.

How much does Brandi weigh? Perhaps you could just carry her up and down the steps. Other than that, a good crate and a lot of love and you should have a good traveling companion.

She weighs 30 lbs. I am still so scared to pick her up lol. Afraid her back will twist wrong. With the IVDD you have to be so careful. I mean they still get to be regular dogs..Just can not jump or do the zig zag running, Or stand on hind legs. She has to have her bowls raised for eating. We had to change a whole lot. But I do feel bad when she gets left behind. Someone was talking about Petloader..I think I am gonna look at that and see what they have too. Just found that on another discussion.
Thank you guys for answering me

Ok never mind..Went to the site, still steps and those she can not do..Still searching
