Have never seen a poodle on the restricted breeds list.

I don't think toy breeds are too dangerous.

We have had an experience in Adirondacks where a CG wouldn't allow small "yappie" dogs. I think it was a personal thing with the CG owner!

Not always a question of being dangerous. As stated above small yappie dogs can be a problem too. Yes, I know all about the the responsible owners who never permit their dogs to bark and yap all day long or at every passing person. It all those irresponsible owners that cause the problem and complaints.

Where we're staying now in FL two RVs have yappy dogs. Those on either side of them are complaining. They're too far down the row to bother us. We'll be leaving in a few days anyway, but I can see why those around these RV are not happy. I would ask to be moved.

Training, we have 2 yapper's and I have the toy poodle trained from barking at a shadow to just a low growl now, can't be hear outside. The other one only barks because she was barking.
Of course when the Black lab Male comes by all bets are off, I'll give them that one.
Nothing worse than a untrained dog.

Years ago our then furry companion (a Cairn Terrier) had a barking problem anytime anything moved within his sight. He'd get so excited he'd blow right through the screen door to get outside. I swear, the squirrels would be laughing at him from their safe perches in the trees. We talked to our vet and then tried a bark collar. Within about 5 minutes of its first use he was seemingly cured forever. Never had another problem. He'd sit quietly and watch the activity outside, maybe occasionally whine a little. The collar ended up in a drawer, never to be used again.

Our current fur babies can be controlled when we're with them and when we're gone they are confined to a bathroom that allows for very little outside stimulation.

What kind of bark collar did you use??????? We have 3 poms and its to the point that i hate taking them for walks and I am a mess emotionally. I've tried the lemon spray collars. Sometimes it works sometimes they just ignore it. Please help! Even my meds aren't working for me now!

We used the type that gives an electric shock. The intensity can be adjusted. We had ours on the lowest setting. Ours were manually set off (I had to push a button on a remote control). We'd heard that unrelated loud noises could inadvertently set off the type that are supposed to automatically go off at the sound of the dog barking.

Again, it took only minutes for him to get the idea. We left the collar on for a few days more, but never had to activate it. Then it was relegated to the junk drawer.

We used what I call her rattle can, it's a 16-20 oz. plastic bottle with 1/2 a dozen coins, pennies, nickels, dimes in it. We were staying in a hotel in Tampa for the RV show and didn't want her barking. I only had to use it 2-3 times, and no more barking. We've also used it for other behavioral issues, now all I have to do it pick the bottle up and problem solved.
