I read this today on msn.com and thought of my fellow RVer's here. The full story is HERE.

Thanks for posting the tip. Have to watch out for our fury friends.

Another good reason to not buy from China.

Right close to my first thought (Another China Food Contamination deal)

I know that they get downright nasty over there when companies get caught (When they say "Heads will roll" They mean LITERALLY) but the companies still do it... And when you look at the way the workers are treated.. You do NOT wonder why.

They go to the church of the almighty Dollar (If I Americanize it) and do not care about anyone else only their bank account.

We had a close call with our recently departed Chocolate Lab. She would eat anything, but didn't always chew. When she was fairly new to us, we gave her one of the "big dog" rawhide "bones". She bit the knotted end off and swallowed it whole.

That was the first of many vet visits over the years. She developed Addison's disease at just over a year old. From then on, she needed a shot every 25 days. They started out at abou $60 a pop, but by the time she'd made 13, they were up to $120. We figured she was a $15000 dog!. We wouldn't change a thing, except her gradual loss of leg strength that resulted in her no longer being able to walk and caused her demise a month short of her 14th birthday.

We never buy anything that is to be ingested if it's made in China. Everything over there is polluted with heavy metals and pesticides. The animals there are coated with chemicals to keep insects from getting on them. Those chemicals are absorbed into the hide and blood stream. Read the package carefully and if you can't find where it's made (not packaged) then simply put it back and keep looking.

Thanks for the Warning. We lost a Shelty to the 2007 contamination. We now have 2 Mini Dachshunds and a Corgi. All rescue dogs. Again thank you. Joe

Joe, we once owned a Corgi, mix-breed. She was half daushound, looked just like a Corgi only with red short hair. Wonderful, highly intelligent dog. I trained her myself to guard our children, and she was very good at the task.

Problem is, I can't bring myself to trust the source.

My niece showed me this article yesterday. Up till that point, we've been giving out dog one chicken jerky treat a day. He does actually have a few of the symptoms. We thought his loss of appetite was just due to his age, and he has always been picky about his food anyways. My sister uses the same jerky treats. I haven't looked at the package yet-we are staying in the house for a few days, and they are all in the RV. However, I know we buy them at WalMart and they don't sell anything made in the USA any more.

Sad but mostly true. We get our stuff from there as well but you just have to look at the package. If it doesn't say where it's made or if it says packaged in the US just put it back. Only buy it if it's clearly marked "Made in the US".

I hope your dog is OK and it's not anything serious! We love our Springer and after having to put one down I dread the day our Murphy has to go!

We just had a fairly expensive episode with our min. poodle with a domestically made beef jerky treat. That was the second time, so that's become a treat of the past. With her, and it's only a guess, is that the treats are so dried out that they create an intestinal blockage and any illnesses that go with that kind of gastro problem. She's fine now, but any and all food is US made - too many unknowns with food processed on the other side of the world.
