Since hitting the road in 2005, we travel and live full time in our rig and are tolerated by the three (Yup! three. as in 3) cats who own this place. After trying many brands, our favorite litter is called "YESTERDAYS NEWS" made of pelletized newspaper. Seems to do the best job of eliminating litter box odor, and doesn't track around the rig as most of the other types we've experimented with.

Now, if only we could figure out a system for converting shedded cat hair into litter...life would be good!!!

Are you SURE? Cat lovers can turn on you sooooo quickly!

I should know; I'm married to one. For now.

But, in that case, it wouldn't be flaming, Tom. It would be a "cat fight".

Let's just say there are about a dozen furballs here, between indoors and out. Some are even ready for their Pilot's exam...

Chickadee get yourself a spinning wheel and spin all that fur into yarn and knit yourself a sweater or socks. They do it with other types of pet fur, so why not cat fur.

We take all seven (7) of ours with us. Two are registered JBT's (Japanese Bobtails), three came from the Humane Society and two came to us when my step daughter died (as did two grandkids!).
We use the Tidy Cat multiple cat litter in one box, scooped daily, maybe more often depending on the smell!!
The youngest JBT loves to go for walks on a leash. The older one (retired CFA Grand Premier) used to walk on a leash but he's gotten lazy and we need to work with him again.

We use a Publix (local grocery store) brand and have had good luck with that.

For those that want to keep your cat off of carpets or a chair I have the solution.
Buy the clear carpet protector that comes on a roll and has points on the back to hold it in place. Cut to the desired shape and lay it so the points are pointing up. The cat will not walk on it.

Thanks! I'll have to check that litter out.

Last week was our first time using the new trailer and also the first time with our three fuzzy pesters. We placed the litterbox with our usual clumping litter in the shower and used a rubber drain cover to prevent any litter from going down the drain. I seemed to work okay, but even with a "litter mat" outside the shower in front of the door they still managed to get the stuff on the floor. I've been thinking about going to a larger pellet type litter or even conventional litter and just changing the box everyday to prevent a mesh from getting tracked through the 5vr. But that would mean more bulky stuff to store and haul around.

Also, what is everybody using for a litter box? I've read on another forum where they were using a rbbermaid container with higher sides to prevent the mess. They also mentioned cutting the Rubbermaid container lid with a hole in the top.

We use Tidy Cats for our 2 furballs as well. It keeps the smell down and has the big advantage (when you're fulltiming) that you can buy it at any Walmart.

We also leash walk both cats. Highly recommend this. It takes a while to train them (ours were 4 yrs old when we introduced it), but it is sooooo worth it. Kitties get to enjoy the outdoors safely with us each day. We use a special kitty harness (HDW walking jacket) which they can't get out of.

Our 16 year old Calico loves traveling in our MH. We keep her litter box filled with ScoopAway under the bathroom sink - the door kept open with a eye & hook latch. We dispose of all waste in the trash in ziplock sandwich bags. Would never think of putting it down the toilet - in the MH or stick house.

We use SWHEAT Litter - made from wheat and is clumping. No clay particles on the floor to step on. We add in some litter made form corn - - together we have no odor and Shadow is ok with it. Switched about 5 years and have never looked back - much, much better than clay.
