We are looking for a rescue boxer. We can't train a puppy right now but we would love a little older dog, 2-3 years. Send me a pm if you know of a nice dog looking for a forever home.

There are organizations that will help you with this. Try this one, situated in the North East BoxerRescue

Almost all of the Breed clubs have rescue organizations. I know my sister who is a veterinarian in the Baltimore area does Boxer rescue but that is a bit far from you.
Here is a list that I got off of the American boxer Club website that lists alot of boxer rescue sites:
http://americanboxerclub.org/boxersitesrescue.html

Rescue dogs are great. I did Mastiff rescue for 5 years and the dogs were so sweet--for the most part.

Best of luck and Happy Holidays,

The rescue groups like Mom2Mastiffs posted have a GREAT reputation of placing a dog in the right home..That would be the ultimate reccomendation for any "rescue dog - just find the appropriate breed!
Good luck finding that perfect boxer for you!

Yes, we are looking at those rescue organizations. I actually check their sites regularly. The application process for each organization is lengthy and I have only submitted one. So it's a matter of filling out the lengthy form for the different rescue organizations in our region. Too bad there isn't a central application that all rescue/breeders could use.
The local humane societies have very few dogs available and many are pit bulls or pit bull mixes. We would take the right boxer mix. Both our previous dogs were from the humane society. Unfortunately I have been a sucker for beagle mixes. Not again, they were both runners and our last dog had to always be on leash. Even checking the websites of the regional boxer breeders, you have to get on a list to buy a puppy. We will be patient until we find the right dog for us.
