We just purchased our Winnebago in November and the carpets are shampooed and very clean. I plan on covering them with plastic film when the weather is wet / muddy out. Other then that I'm sure the carpet will get dirty, dry and get vacuumed up.

This is what we used.

The future might have different flooring.

No big deal ...we have wrap-around carpets on the outside steps, & stair step carpets on the inside steps. In really bad conditions we might add a small carpet at the top of the steps. We dry the two dogs' feet with a towel in wet weather, and we have stanley Steamer do the carpet & tile once a year. I have a small Dirt Devil carpet scrubber for spot cleaning as needed.

The last motorhome we had, had carpet and the DW was always complaining about all the dog hair on the carpet and how the carpet would get dirty. Our latest motorhome has tile floors and what was the first thing the DW wanted to do; get room size rugs to cover the tile . GO figure!!

Rinse outside, then carpet mat outside and finally towel at the main door (inside the motorhome)...have trained doggie to sit down on the towel as soon as we enter so she gets her paws dried.

Luckily we have tile in most of the home, but we do have carpet in the bedroom. So far so good, but I can see a good steam-cleaning in our near future.

i was re-reading all the posts
and had a few laughs.....you can really tell who has pups that are family.
those three boston terriers are ....coooool
and was wondering....is the carpet an issue because the pup go poop in the rv or just dirty feets?
i track in more dirt than they do

other than the occasional upchuck, i cant remember when on of our pups pooped inside.

they are trained to upchuck on TILE
i yell NO NO NO run to the door and then i hear booolurp

The odd thing is since we switched from carpet to tile I have to give the dog a bath about twice as often. I think with all the long hair he acts like a dust mop.

For us it's the mess they track inside. We full time with 3 dogs so we're in all kinds of weather. There's nothing like walking three dogs... in the rain... at the beach... and then having them try to dry off on the carpet.
