I would suggest you start working on this now. Thunder shirt for sure! It cured our Lily. I would try Dramamine at various doses until you find what works best. It could be that just becoming familiar with riding might solve the problem. Hopefully by the time summer comes she will be a seasoned and confident traveler.

Dramamine works -- ask vet for appropriate dosage based on your dog's weight. (Dramamine is essentially an anti-emetic, meaning it shuts down the brain's "throw-up mechanism.")
Cool air directly on the dog also seems to help. A blanket from home might help calm your dog, too. Don't know how old your pup is, but a vet once told me that motion sickness tends to diminish as the dog ages.

I found that my bichon became car sick when she had an (almost) empty stomach. So about two hours BEFORE driving I feed her, and also make sure she has peed and pooped prior to any travel. She does really well with that feeding schedule, and with the cool air and blanket from home. :-) Scheduled rest stops also break up the drive and allow for stretching, etc.

Your dog looks like a sweetheart! Good luck and safe travels. :-)

PS -- I'd like to also recommend a dog restraint harness so that your pup won't fly around inside your RV (or car) in the event of an accident.

I have 4 pomeranians that we travel with, 2 get really car sick. We tried everything, nothing worked, until "Cerenia"! I think that's how it's spelled....anyway, it doesn't knock them out, give 1 pill two hours prior to trip, VOILA! Lasts twelve hours! It's prescription so ask your Vet about it. It just came out last spring. Our first trip was from NJ to Florida & back, neither one got that "pukey face" or even drooled, let alone vomit, & these 2 couldn't go a mile without getting car sick. Oh, & neither dog showed any side effects, they were just as silly & feisty as they usually are. Hope this helps!

we have a 75 lb lab mix and vet gave us acepromazine or as he refers to them happy pills. she would take 1 pill before we leave but i will say the wife has cut it down to 1/4 of a pill.
