Pet Health Insurance

Anyone have pet health insurance that will cover your dog when traveling to different states?

We have Pet Health Care insurance through AKC. We are glad we do our dog has had his share of problems---his latest a torn cruciate ligimate requiring TPLO surgery and costing a bundle. We paid 20% making it affordable for us. Pet insurance is like people insurance---it's insurance against major loses---you may never use it---or like us us it a lot.

We chose the wellness plan which includes annual dental cleaning, physical, heart worm meds, flea prevention---in addition to covered treatments. 13,000 per year max, $150. deductible per year then plan pays 80% (this is from memory could be a tad bit different). Monthly fee 30 to 65 dollars depending on coverage. We basically break even annually payments equal the reimbursement for treatment--- but if something big happens we are covered.

As with any insurance read the fine print (we have been satisfied with what we have). But for instance our policy covers one torn cruciate ligimate and if our dog tears another then it is on us.
