If you live in America you shouldn't need a license to have a pet. Not sure where you live that you think you need a license but if you are fulltiming there are certainly places you can declare as your residence that would eliminate the need for any kind of license.

Last week, here in MD, a animal control officer came to my door at about 7 pm. Our (declawed, inside only) cat had an expired rabies shot that evidently was recorded when we saved the cat years ago at a kill shelter. They told me they were doing me a favor rather than just sending the $500 fine and that I had 48 hours to fix it. I asked questions like "what if the cat has already expired", etc, etc, but in the end we had the shot renewed the next day.

Many communities in America require that owners get an annual license tag for their dogs and sometimes other pets. I think the answer lies in whatever the requirements are for the state the owners live.

Your only response should be to come back with a warrant. Just because he said he's doing you a favor doesn't mean that he actually is. If citizens refused to tolerate this kind of abuse it wouldn't last very long.

Americas Mailbox..........legal address
So you should get a dog license from Box Elder 'City Finance Dept'

See pg 30
https://www.boxelder.us/documents/view/animals

More importantly is the Rabies Shot/tag/documentation
We used Banfield Clinics inside PetSmart stores.
Vaccines/Rabies and computer files

Sorry for a late response but yes we will. Our Vet will chip him when we get him fixed in a couple of weeks. They don't want to use a big needle on a 5lb dog without anesthesia
