The three of us in the No Pets, Non-Smoking thread have received a request to start a pet thread.
So, for quick ideas, here's my namesake, Kopit in March, 2002, then 9 months.
& her older 1/2 sister, Kwitnm, also March, 2002 then 29 months.
I'm a Chessie person. These dogs just love to hike and to swim. If you've been busy making miles, go find a place where you can take them swimming and in just a short while you will have given them a fair bit of exercise.
Not these two, but other chessies got me back to doing a lot more camping, quite awhile ago.

We take more pictures of our pets then we do of each other.
Our hounds love to swim.
Unfortunately, one of them likes to chase skunks.
The little lady takes in any animal she finds that needs help, but our hounds are our real love.
A Pet thread is a good idea !!!
Mike

Wow Mike, your lab could be our Sandy's sibling.
Here's our group at cooky time and at the Chetco River outside Brookings,Or. They love to camp and hike. I'll vote for a pet thread also.

Chessie it is, Chesapeake Bay Retriever.
The present Newfoundland Dog, the present Portuguese Water Dog, the Labrador Retrievers, and the Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are all descended from water dogs who were with the fishermen from that Iberian Peninsula (Basques, Portuguese, Spanish)off our shores of this island and Labrador 400 or more years ago.*
There is quite the famous tale of two of those dogs being wrecked off the Chesapeake Bay, one taken to the eastern side of the Bay and one to the western side of same. They have a wavy coat, look at Kwitnm's photo.
The Portuguese Water Dog has an even more wavy coat. (Curly coat means something like what poodles have)
* Yep, more proof that the Columbus thing was a mere PR campgaign.

This is Sparky the traveling long-haired chihuahua. He's been up and down the eastern coast from Florida all the way to Newfoundland. When the RV goes, he goes.
