Lightbulb Portable DYI Pet Enclosure - Outside RV

Like this - for multiple cats (or dogs)

The one above would have to be re-fixed with some way to anchor to concrete and/or dirt/grass, having a floor might be preferential. Anyone with ideas or experience?

We use a Sportcraft portable screened enclosure for our cat house. The cats can climb the screen and it does not tear or snag. We place a piece of outdoor carpet on the floor and place it under the awning and enjoy a bug free space along with our cats, Sadie, Sophie and Little Bit.

We used to have these made and resold them. I have two, one on each side of the MH.
I also have one that CW sells and another from a vendor at a cat show that I can put on the ground or table. I also have one of my 6 cats (was 7) trained to walk on a leash.
At the stick house we added a 10 x 25 deck, enclosed in wood lattice.

We spent 140 days parked in the desert near Quartzsite, AZ. I built a 10’x20’ windbreak on the passenger side of the RV using 1/2” metal EMT pipe, mesh tarps and fittings purchased locally. I used 18” high chicken wire around the bottom and put a gate on one end.

Lily is a runner and not very bright. It was nice to be able to let her play outside safely but this was not a quick solution. I'm hoping to reuse it several years.

Hello - Any chance you could tell me how you made this? I love it and it would be perfect for my puppy. TIA.

I bought fittings like those on this page, but cheaper in Quartzsite, AZ

Canopy Fittings, Canopy Parts 3/4" Inch

I prefer the sliding variety if available so I don’t have to cut as many pipes. These are easy because you just stick the pipe in and tighten the screw. I bought 10’ long x 3/4” EMT metal pipe from the electrical dept at Lowe's.

For keeping the pup in I only needed tarps and ball bungees with 12” chicken wire run around the perimeter at ground level to keep her from nosing under the tarps. For the gate end I used 2 of these below and some chicken wire to fill in the last 4’.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/No-Dig-Actu...-Panel/3464104

I only secured one of the end panels and let the other one act as the gate.

In Quartzsite the wind can get fierce. I pounded 24” pieces of rebar halfway into the ground and slipped the pipes over them. I added tie downs and anchors at the corners because of the tarps. You wouldn’t need that if you were using just wire. The mesh tarps act like sails and need extra support.

I just finished a cage for Sena, but she can undo the bungees so I used welded wire and zip ties to hold the wire to the frame. I'll take a photo tomorrow and post it. Too dark now.

If you'd like more info let me know and I'll PM you my phone number.

8’x4’ Plastic lattice from Lowe’s or HD. Cut lengthwise into 3rds at 2’8”x4 . 1/2 inch pvc pipe cut to fit the 4 sides as a frame, drilled holes and attached by zip ties. Bought an assortment of T connectors , elbows etc....

You can get creative with the connectors go higher or add legs. My finished product is about 3 foot high and I usually haul 12 total panels or 32’ linear feet.

Total cost was about 60.00 could do it for much less(up cycled PVC pipe and connectors on Craigslist or neighbors trash all the time)

Total weight is under 30 pounds and total stored area for 12 panels is about 3’x4’x 1’ Tall. Easily fits under queen bed or couch.

Total build time was about 3 hours requiring a jigsaw and a drill.

Wife found it on Pinterest and our 3 Great Danes love it. If they really wanted out they could but for smaller dogs we’ve had over it is 1 solid piece and with the different connectors you can customize your shapes and sizes.

Would love to see pictures of this, we’re always looking for ideas to keep our three Danes corralled

These are brilliant ideas! We are still in the planning stages for our expeditions and we hadn't even thought of outside pet pens... thank you!

Mr_D I would love to do this for my cats. How did you mount the cage to the RV window? Did you have some kind of screen or door to keep bugs out? Bugs are a nuisance out here in Yuma
