Good for you. Get right back up on the horse. People need animals, and animals need people. It's a great relationship. You couldn't honor Siren more than by realizing that she was a great pet, and you need to fill the void that she left. Hope that Sierra gives you every bit as much pleasure.

Siren was indeed a beautiful cat! .......agreed that animals and humans need each other. Our dog and cat get along great, and they are both such wonderful members of our family.

So glad you decided to get another fur baby! There are so many animals that need us....they can't open doors for themselves, they can't get their own regular healthy food, they can't walk into a vets office for care. You did a great thing, for yourself and the kitty. Cats can be trained to fit your lifestyle too, but you probably already know that. Your memories will always be with you and a new family member doesn't take that away! With high regard to you......safe travels as well!

I brought Sierra home today. A day early. She caught a little "kitty cold" and they didn't want to do the spaying until she's over it. I have to give her some anti-biotic every morning and evening until November 16. I am having her checked at our vet Friday.

But, she took to the RV well (I brought her home in it) and has been exploring the apartment.

Congrats on your new kitty!

I'm a solo full-timer and I adopted a male kitten about a year ago. He adds a LOT to my life - only in hindsight can I see it, never would have predicted such a thing. "Our" MH is littered with cat toys, climbing posts, beds, etc. I don't think he's suffering from the FT lifestyle.

Although I like the personalities of male cats, even neutered, they tend to spray around the house. For that reason, if I do get a kitten, it would be a female.
No experience but offering condolences on the loss of Siren.

We've had several male neutered cats, raised on from the day he was born, the other was 8 weeks old when we got him. The one we raised from the beginning never sprayed. (He was almost 12 when he passed away)Neither has the one we got at 8 weeks old and is over 4 now.

One key is to get them neutered as soon as possible. It also helped that ours think they were/are girls...they squat like the girls do.
