How hard is it to have a dog with us at Yellowstone? She is a 45 pound tri Border Collie and goes everywhere with us. We have never been to a National Park since we had her. Any problems?

Shouldn't be. We haven't been to Yellowstone, but have been in other National Parks with our pooches.
Rules are the same -- keep 'em on a leash and pick up after them.
They will enjoy the park as much as you will.

Like Pusherman, we've taken our pooch into national parks on a leash...Grand Canyon, Rocky Mt. National Park. The Ranger at the gate to Rocky Mt. National Park gave a stern warning not to let our dog off leash (something we would never consider except in a fenced dog park)...he warned us that family pets were prime coyote food when let loose in the parks.
One of our forum members, Cruzer, has a german shepherd and has visited Yellowstone often. Perhaps he will see your question and offer some advice.

Yellowstone is a bit different. You cannot let them off leash and you cannot let them off any trail.
One they damage the grounds if they get off trail,
two they can get injured real easy if they step off into a hot pot or a vent that are not always showing.
Third are the fact that wild animals abound in Yellowstone especially elk and deer and they will sometimes go after pets. Keep them on leash, in vehicle as much as possible and you will be ok.
One more thing a few years ago a dog jumped into a hot pool naturally not knowing better, the owner not thinking went in after her to save her since she was a whining from being boiled alive, both parished, his body was recovered the dog wasnt and the dog caused the pool to geiser for several years after that happened.

We spent a week in YS last July and loved it. We had our 3 dogs with us and had no problems. The pic below (taken in Fishing Bridge campground) should illustrate why it is important to have your pets nearby and on leash.

Thanks for the replies. Paulin, unfortunately I cannot see the picture as I am on a military server and it blocks all incoming embedded pictures for fear of a virus.
I take it is a picture of "wildlife" nearby?
How much can be done with a dog at yellowstone? Our dog would be on a leash, but would not want to put her or anything in danger, or go against the rules.

Go to the NPS website, then follow the link to Yellowstone NP. You'll find the rules there, plus anything else you wish to know about Yellowstone.

Yep! Within a few minutes of getting set up in Fishing Bridge CG, this bison comes parading through the woods in front of the motorhome then crosses the road about 30 feet from us.
Since Fishing Bridge CG has full hook-ups, we were able to leave the dogs in the MH for a few hours to go sightseeing.

Went to Yellowstone this last July. Ranger says to keep the dog out of the water (streams). I have a Lab mix, was hard. Ranger said that there was one place at the lake you can take them to swim in. It is near the hospital by the old boat house.

That is what our dog loves, water. We will have to find somewhere she can swim and dive for rocks. She is a nut in water.

Remember many an animal has perished by unknowingly, jumping into scalding hot water.
This includes the human type which is a regular accurance at Yellowstone.
