We're planning on visiting Washington D.C. this fall and we travel with a Yorkie. Anyone done that? What did you do with your pet? Where did you stay. We're considering Cherry Hill in College Park because they mentioned dog walking (or we saw something about that). Any suggestions appreciated.

We are likely to want to be gone from morning until the evening, but not sure how to do that with the dog with us.

We also travel with a dog and do plan our time away from the motorhome with that in mind. She is good and we never leave her more than 5 - 6 hrs max. She sleeps and watches for us. We take her for a brisk walk and play time as soon as we get back.

If we planned to stay away longer, our options would be to locate a reputable place to kennel her for the day (there are doggie day care options in may areas), or to use a local pet sitter/dog walker. I guess the key would be to be assured whomever you would use for that is reliable. Most professional dog sitters are bonded. Suspect folks at Cherry Hill have dealt with this before and would have recommendations.

We stayed at Cherry Hill for 10 days in June of this year. They do offer dog walking services. We did not use their service but I did see the women every day walking dogs through the park. We found the park to be very clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and the Metro bus picked up right at the park and brought you to the subway station, that made going into DC a breeze. We would stay there again if we went back to DC.

We have a poodle and when in Hilton Head there was a walking service we used. We left our keys at the front desk and left the check in the coach. It worked for us .They where licence and insured and we took the lap top gps and camera with us in the toad just in case.
