Our gray has traveled with us for years. We have a "travel" cage, smaller than his home cage. When moving he's in the cage, which is bungied/tied to a stand. When parked he's out on his playpen. Bring lots of food, and water from home, and enjoy your travels.

Our macaw has his own permanent cage anchored in the MH where the swivel chair used to be.

I travel with a capuchin monkey and have many of the same issues. I removed the cab-over bunk mattress and cut outdoor carpet to fit the space. I bought the grassy looking green carpet with rubber backing at Lowe's for $28. Sena has a 36 x 24 x 26 double door folding cage in the middle of her "cubby". It's easy to lift the cage down and set it on the dinette and then fold up the carpet and take outside to shake and hose off if needed. On a warm and windy day it dries quickly.
