We arrived at the Pima County Fairgrounds last night in time to find a
space to park. This is our first time out with the Jeep TOAD. It made it here in one piece and will come in handy hauling stuff from our space to the show building. We shoehorned ourselves into a tiny space on the fringe of the
fairgrounds that has 50 amp service (no sewer, though). It's a freshly
bladed dirt lot and within minutes we had tracked about a acre of it into the RV. This is going to be a 3 vacuum bagger to get clean!
With the light of day this morning we realized had we stayed on the
main road and driven to the other side of the show building we could
have parked in a pull-through space, paved road and full-service. Oh
well, a little hiking and dust never killed anyone! Next year we will know better!
There were 45+ whippets entered today and Eddie, co-owned with Julie Konwent
of Elaine-Ward Kennels and shown by Mandy Clevenger from San Bernardino
showed well. He won open dog, but finished reserve winner
overall. We need just 4 more points to finish him and those have been
really hard to earn! We still have tomorrow and Sunday so hopefully we will finish him this weekend.
Back in the RV, we are running the A/C full blast as it's 85 degrees.
The whippet crew (4 of them) are taking it easy until they show again
tomorrow.
Overall, for $40 a night, this is a good deal (compared to what this
would cost in California!). If Eddie is finished the weekend we plan to shift our focus to our two 6-month-old whippet pups for the
show in Yuma on Thanksgiving.
We were really busy today so I didn't have time to find whippet momma or some of the other folks from the forum who are here. I'll probably wander over to the vendor area later and see who I can find.
