Two pups
Looking for pointers on taking our pups with us this year. We had an older dog a few years ago, she was a great Traveller. But these two are silly. Back in August they went with us to Trinidad, but they slept a lot. Now's a new story. So, we will leave them alone on our trips for hours at a time, and always go to feed n walk ect. It is kind of a dumb question, but I'm sure there's a lot of pet lovers out there. Thanks

Well, it depends on the dog. Some will just sleep the whole time you are gone and others will tear up the garbage or cushions. You could get a cheap video camera and leave them in the coach for awhile at a local park and see how they do.

I don't really see a question in your post so I assume you're just looking for some input and thoughts.
Many folks think when they leave their dogs alone they just lay down and look out the window. Some do but many bark all the time you're gone.
When we first started taking our dog with us we would leave a recorder going while we were away so we could see if she was being a pest while we were out. Especially when she was new to RVing.

We travel with 2 Yorkies. Never a problem. We have a small dog crate that we can put them in if needed, but 90% of the time we leave them in the rig. Many times when we have been parked and had them out with us, neighbors have commented that they had no idea we had dogs..

What do you do with them at home when you leave? Kirby, our Golden Retriever, is fine left alone loose in the trailer, my son has a Golden Doodle that requires being in a cage when left alone.
The only complaint I have is when people leave their dog alone barking all day. When we sit outside I don't want to hear the next RV over dogs barking at me sitting outside.

We have two dogs that travel with us. One about 12 years old and one about 4 years old. The older one is much calmer and rests well while we are gone. The younger on is a terrier and quite active, so he stays in his crate while we are gone.
Regards.

We have been RV'ing with our dogs for 35 years. Since they are not allowed to misbehave at home, we've never had a problem with them misbehaving on the road. If your animal companion exhibits bad behavior when separated from you at home, it's probably a good guess it will also happen when you leave them in your RV.
When we have taken puppies and their behavior is not yet known, we always bring a foldable/portable kennel that they go in when we leave the RV...of course they have to be kennel trained at home before doing this so they feel comfortable and safe in a kennel, even if other dogs in the RV are not in a kennel.
We close ALL the shades in the RV and turn on the radio when we leave them alone for any amount of time that we will be gone. This is to minimize any visual or sound stimuli that might initiate barking at noises made by the neighbors, etc.
Over the years we've had a beagle, a husky, a golden retriever, a black lab, three german shepherds, a yorkie, and several mixed breeds all with no issues of making "bodily" messes, barking, or tearing up the RV when left alone for periods of up to 10 hours at a time.

Two pups
We have 2 chihuahuas. I turned the under bed storage into a dog crate area that has a gated front. They prefer sleeping under there and will go under whenever we say “go to bed”. Although we normally just leave them roaming free while at a restaurant. All they do is look out the window for our return. They prefer a small dog bed up front when we travel. I do worry about them chewing up a wire harness so we bring a dozen chew toys and treats.

We travel with 3 Pugs. 7and 8 months and grandma is 11. They love traveling and we can leave for 3 hours or so with zero problems. Will take them in crv when we go visiting if okay with friends and family.

I leave my dogs at home (inside) alone, but I always make sure they can get outside if an emergency (fire, earthquake...?...) can't do that if they are locked up in RV...
