What to do?

Since the passing of one of our fur babies, the other two are having a hard time trying to figure out what happened to their brother. You can see the look in their face, and watch the reaction when you mention his name.

I have seen this behavior before in our fur babies, especially when we lost our golden. Every time we would move her collar or chain they would come running to see if it was her.

His blood sister is really taking it hard, and his adopted sister who we have only had just a little over 3 years, is wondering what happened to the guy that she would play with on occasion.

I guess time will heal but it makes us sad to watch them looking for him and can't figure out where he went or why he isn't coming back

This Thanksgiving will be our first trip in the camper without him, and it's going to be hard on both of us and his sisters.

Get another fur ball and they will soon be engrossed/distracted in their new playmate. No it won't replace their brother but it will do wonders for them. Then it will just take some time before they are enjoying themselves again.

We've got a Golden Cocker mix and a Berman. They are always (day and night) under foot and a joy to have around.

It's so sad to watch our two fur babies going around and looking for their brother.

My Son sent me this web link for some suggestion for pets that are grieving a loss.

Animals grieve, too. It will take some time for them to adjust.

Adjustment is not easy, it's sort of two fold, it's sad for us and sad for the other fur babies.

As we watch our other two cats go through the day, still looking and smelling where their brother would lay during the day, and not finding him is sad just to see the look in their face.

In the three years that we have had Sweetie Pie, she has never tried or had any desire to go outside, even when the door is left open.

The other day while unloading groceries with the door open, she ventured out on the front porch. I know she was looking for Boo. Luckily I was able to scare her back in the house before she ventured too far.

Boo's blood sister is doing the same thing. When ever the door is opened she sticks her head out just looking to see if she can see her brother.

I know it's just a matter of time, how long, no one knows

The suggestion of getting a new kid is a good one. I am sure that your feelings of sadness are having a impact on how they feel. I know it is very hard to not show or feel so bad after losing a kid. Try to keep showing them a lot of love and as soon as you feel that it is the right time go look for that new family addition.
