Dogs left in rigs

I'm seeing more and more campgrounds prohibiting dogs left unattended in or out of the rig. Sign of the times??

Sadie knows that when I get the 6-pack cooler out, it's dune time. I try to make it the last thing I do as she gets hyper. She also know the word "Dunes"

It seems to me that somewhere between 80% & 90% of RVers have at least 1 pet that travels with them, mostly dogs. If it was all that much trouble, you'd probably see a lot fewer. The bother vs reward quotient is heavily weighted towards reward.

Hey Dunner! Looks like Sadie needs to visit the dentist. Is that her summer hairdo? Never knew a chow looked like that under all the hair.

Confusion, yep, or bad memory. My apologies Sadie for remembering you wrong. I guess those 3 are your country cousins. They look a lot like most of my old neighbors in Oklahoma.

Do da dout toot do da dout toot do da dout toot(sound of evening news)

Breaking News. This{email}just in.

If I Didn't Have A Dog...Or Cat......

I could walk barefoot around the yard in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be hair-free.

When the doorbell rings, my home wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through all the fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed any way I wanted, without having to take into consideration how much space several fur bodies need to get comfortable.

I would have enough money, and no guilt, to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: "out," "sit," down", "come," "no, "stay," and "leave it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates and makeshift barriers.

I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the tummy'..

My house would not look like a day care center, with toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, O-U-T, G-O, R-I-D-E, S-U-P-P-E-R, And C-O-O-K-I-E.

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog or cat ties them down.

I'd look forward to the rainy season instead of dreading them as 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question: 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never know the joy of being loved unconditionally by the closest thing to an angel they will ever encounter.

How EMPTY my life would be!!!

Dunner,

In that same vein,

We wouldn't have bought a king size bed since the dogs took up most of the queen size bed only to find we still only get a few inches from each side. The dogs are more comfortable though. I wouldn't get up and sleep on the couch because 2 of the dogs have pushed me as far as I can go without falling off the bed.

We wouldn't have a standing appointment with the groomer (who has become a wonderful friend) and spend more on grooming than we have ever spent getting our own hair done. We wouldn't be as lost because it's too quiet while they are gone all day.

We wouldn't be greeted at the gate with such boundless joy because we are back after only being gone for a little while. Nothing misses you like your dog does.

Good.

If Sadie is in the same spot on the couch where I want to take a nap, I say "move" and she does, only to sneak back down by my leg, under the thermal blanket I use to keep my feet warm. And... she doesn't just lay down, she plops down against my leg. Always has.

LOL, if the dogs are up and I lay down on the couch, Belle lays down by my feet and Rascal curls up by my stomach. I can't imagine why I can never take a nap on the couch.

Rascal sleeps every night with his head on my calves and Belle curls up against my back. I wouldn't know how to sleep if I could move around. Luke sleeps with his head on Chuck's feet. We can move them, but they come right back to their preferred sleeping spots. After they give one of those long, suffering looks to us. I bet you get those looks from Sadie too.

I get the "feed" me look, even though she has an open bin to feed from at will. Sometimes, she won't look me in the eye. Don't know what that's all about.

In some RV Parks pet sitters are available for those extended trips. As we get older we seem to spend more time with our pets than we do out galavantin'.
