Last night I had Zeus out for his evening walk, we were in the dog area when a couple approached with their Lab. Both dogs were looking at each other tails wagging away. As the Lab got closer 3/4 feet he started to give of a low grow, tail still wagging, owners saying he's friendly. I ask if he is neutered as Zeus is not, and we have had issues with other non neutered dogs being aggressive with him. The Lab came close to sniff and immediately went at Zeus snapping and barking. As Zeus responded I grabbed him around the neck and pulled him away. The husband tried to restrain the Lab but fell, leaving his wife to pull him off. We kept them apart a went to our respective Rv. Zeus seemed none the worse for wear. Today he began to act a little strange so we looked him over and found a deep wound behind the flap of his ear which was infected. Took him to the Vet and left $180 poorer. I went over to where the other coach was, they had left. Now the question, should I go to the office and ask for a name and phone number so that I can make sure their dog is up to date on his shots?

You can certainly try, although the campground owner may not want to disclose their personal contact information to you & I'm not sure he is obligated to do so, even in the case of a dog attack. I would suggest making a police report of the incident. Then the police can obtain the other dog owner's information for you to pursue.
Wishing a speedy recovery for Zeus.

I would tell the office some story about a kindness they did for you and you wanted to send a thank you note to them. There are ways to get around some things.

The worse you can get for asking is a "No."
If your dog is up on his shots he should be fine. The rabies vaccine, which is good for 3 years, should prevent him from that dread. All the other shots should take care of any other items.
Unfortunately dogs "know" when another dog is making a threatening growl. Humans sometimes do not hear it. We have a 70 pound Husky and she loves to play, but we have found that when she is on the leash she becomes very protective. I now just warn people approaching that "She is not friendly to other animals when she is on a leash." Especially those little 10 pound attach dogs. They usually give a wide berth, or keep a short leash if we stop to talk.
That old "tail wagging trick," will get you every time.
Good luck.

...........That's the proper thing to do, let the authorities get the info for you, but do it real soon. We always try to give the extra room but it's hard when you just want to be polite. Good luck, give Zeus a big hug for us.
