All great stories, and I'm sure we all have a ton of them.
Thank you for sharing. We are so lucky to have the pets that we have and the joy they bring us.

And I want to thank you for adopting them and not buying purebred cats from breeders and cruel filthy kitten-mills. You saved two precious little lives.
Zebulon, Siamese mix, and Callie (here watching Animal Planet) the parking lot kitty. She's just a domestic shorthair better known as an alleycat.
Phaedra from the kill-shelter and Callie in the RV's bathroom - of all places to take a nap!
This is pudgy little Zephyr, also from the kill shelter. We couldn't love them any more if they were purebreds that cost $1000 each.

Congratulations on your new family addition.
I wish you many happy years together!
I am a bit sad to hear a few remarks against purebred dog and cat breeders though on this thread. Some of us dedicate our lives to breeding healthy wonderful best friends. We carefully plan our litters and ONLY place animals in carefully screened homes and are ALWAYS willing to take one back if the owner can't keep it for life. We promote responsibility, good care and participate in rescue of our breeds.
A person should find their news best friend from wherever they find the best match for their needs. Be it responsible shelter or breeder.
Both will take care to ensure the animal will meet your needs and lifestyle because both want permanent lifetime homes for the animals in their care. Happy owners lead to life long happy pets.

Here is the 4+ week update. All is very well. She had been a dream sleeping at night, going outside and keeping Gracie company. Tonight was her first night of training and she did well with paying attention to Ginger during class and not paying attention to other dogs and people in class.
She loves hanging out around us and going for her walk / hike during the day.
Here she is playing with Gracie in our backyard.

Update on Lindsay
Well, Lindsay has now been with us one week, and what a week it has been. She had to have surgery on her eyes for a condition in which the lower eye lashes grow in instead of out, causing irritation to her eyes. Hence the satellite dish around her head!! Needless to say she ran into everything when we first got her home-including us. Last Monday we took her camping in the MH and she did great! She appears to be housebroken, which is fantastic, slept the whole trip, and minds very well! Can't believe someone did not come looking for her, but glad we found her. The adventures continue!

Oh no.. I hope she is doing better and I have herd of that before. Looking at the picture it looks like she is doing well. Lots of love is the best medicine.
And tell her that Gracie is no stranger to the satellite dish! When she had ear surgery years ago she also needed one.

Good advice. We about to loose Dino, our 10 year old German Shepherd Dog; our third one. Since we both love this breed, we will consider another. If we decide to get another dog, we will search for a responsible breeder that meets our requirements and also expect to be questioned to satisfy their requirements that we will provide a good home for the new puppy.

We didn't go for a rescue after our big ole' lady lab passed...
in fact, we talked about it and didn't want another pet it was so hard on us after 12 years....
BUT, a rescue came to us and started living on our front porch when it was snowing in DFW and he was about 6 weeks old and MAYBE 3 lbs ?!?
now he's 65 lbs of solid muscle and wears me out !
Not sure if he likes to play so much because HE likes it or that he knows I like it

Another adoption story:
After our German Shepherd, Dino, died from Lymphoma, we decided to wait until the summer travels were over to decide whether to get another dog. Ours have always been GSD's, and we wondered if we could handle another big dog at the end of its lifespan since we would then be in our middle 80's. A friend talked about rescue dogs, and we thought about a female GSD since it would be smaller.
This past Sunday, we drove to the northern Cincinnati area to pick up a new dog from the area German Shepherd Rescue Association. After viewing pictures on their website, we had applied to adopt Baby, a 5 year old female, and we were approved. She originally came from the Cleveland area, had been with the rescue for 4 months, but they were worried that no one would want an older dog. Since she is already into her lifespan, she fit into our time needs. She weighs 60 lb. so is a 2/3 replica of the late Dino. We drove the motorhome to Cincinnati so we could have a trial of her primary mode of travel and she was fine
Baby is a very loving dog, and her presence makes us realize how much we love to have a dog. My wife wants to change her name to Bella; to reflect out two Italian sports cars, so we will call her Bella Baby until the new name takes hold. Baby is our new exercise program since we now have a reason to resume our one mile walks each morning and evening. She is wearing out her nose taking in the new smells, and our house vacuum again gets to suck up dog hairs. Great!... see pictures below.

Lilly comes to us from Common Sense for Animals, this is a local no kill shelter that we adopted George from is 1999. She was transported up from North Carolina where she was about to be put down. She is about five months old.
I will say it a million times, don't buy, adopt.
