Well...it was time. After several weeks of rain, sleet, snow, temps in the 20's and the 80's and having flue like symtoms for the last two weeks, I made an executive decision. Go someplace, anyplace.

Loaded the Bounder Tuesday afternoon and struggled with Roxie to get her out when I was finished loading. No way was dog (D...deputy; O...of; G...God.) going to be left. We both could hardly wait til Wednesday morning.

Pulled out and headed south. First stop was for fuel. Dang it was nice to fuel up with $1.999 diesel. Next stop was Spring Creek Park in Tomball, TX, a northern suburb of Houston. Its a county owned park with 8 full 50 amp hook ups and the price is great...free. You can only stay a max of 7 days.

I wanted to drive down to Galveston and see the progress they had made after Ike. I've always been a proud Texan and again had it reinforced. Those citizens have rolled up their sleeves and in spite of Fema and the federal government those folks are moving forward. Never saw any frowns or griping about where's the government, where's my check. I bet that town is further ahead in 3 1/2 months than New Orleans is after three years. Of course, Galvestonians aren't waiting for a handout. It's their city and they'll rebuild it.

Back to Spring Creek park. I'll be here until Monday and then off to parts unknow. Maybe Padre Island, maybe Mexico. The liquor cabinet needs restocking after the holidays and the "hot Toddies".

I've met some great rv'ers this trip...all couples, blast it! No singles. Oh well. Something else to look forward too.

Thanks for reading...if you did.

Elkhart Jim: Great post, I can really relate to it. Unfortunately we are under severe winter storm warnings right now or --------- Homer and Cat (Suzzie)

Uh oh! Do I see matchmaking going on?? LOL!!

Congratulations on getting out and hitting the road. Ain't it great!! Jim - I'm on the other side of the flu myself . . . and I've been doing the "hot toddy" thing too. That and coffee liquor. The hot toddies were Apricot Brandy, tea, honey, butter, lemon . . . Rye is supposed to be the alcohol of choice but ugh!! Nothing has really helped . . . just had to ride out the fevers, chills . . . COUGHING. Nasty stuff. Hope you're feeling better!!

No matchmaking....he never even called. I am only about 13 miles away and I didn't know that park had free RV sites. I will have to check it out.

Hey Barbara,
Just a thought, sometimes a newbie to the site doesn't understand PM's and how to get to them.

Best,

Maybe you are right, Kristi.

Hey Jim, if you hang around this area a few more days you could join up with the Texas Boomers on our rally this weekend. We will be at Country Place RV Park in Cut N Shoot - about 30 minutes from where you are now. Go to the Regional Chapters - Campouts & Rallies and look at the South Central Region - January Gathering. I saw we just had a cancellation, so there is room for you to join us there if you would like to meet some of the people in this area.

Dang it Barbara, my e mail got screwed up or the operator did and I did't get your message until this morning. Sorry we didn't make contact and give GM more to talk about. Joking of course. The Cut N Shoot sounds like an oportunity to make new friends. I have to decide where I'm at and where I'm going.

We could plan a rendezvous and invite GM to chaperone.... wonder how long would it take GM to get to Texas?

Cabin Fever!! You guys have no idea... I go places in my sleep, I'm soooooooo ready to go!..
I bought my Bounder one year ago on the 5th of Jan. and guess where I've been?? NO WHERE!!!! Not one , zip, noda, zero, none, not any, single place!!!

I look at everyones pictures and drool.. (ruined 2 keyboards doing that.. yuck). I picture me standing there instead of you. I look at maps till I can't see straight, planning which route I'll take. I don't even need a GPS any more.. I have every road and highway memorized.

BUT!!! Come February 16th to the 19th, I'll be at the FMA, Spring Roundup, at Terribles Lakeside Casino and RV Park in Pahrump, Nevada

Ok..ok... so it's only 65 miles from my house... Hey it's a start.. finally a start.. Already paid for, can't back out, no one can say I can't go, no one will need me someplace else.. I'm GOING!!!
