Not sure if this would be considered lonely but i was driving around yesterday doing some errands and i had this feeling that if something happened to me noone would miss me for days or more. Im in an area now with no family and no friends and it might take a week or more before anyone would ever even think that maybe something happened to me.

So i guess for us solo'ers we better hope and pray that there are always good people around that will help and not just drive by.

A lot of guys take big financial hits due to women, that they would not have taken otherwise. You have to ask, what is in it for me? What do I gain out of this? How does this make my life better?

And the nagging...man it is nice to have no nagging in my life! There must be some secret class that only women take in school called "nagging 101".

Women generally just require a lot of time and attention and you are forced to do things you don't want to do, live places you don't want to live, etc... And I have just got to the point where I'm just going to live my life the way I want to and do what makes me happy everyday come what may. If that means I'm single, so be it. If a gal came along that was really low key, low maintenance who liked alternative simple lifestyles like full time RV-ing, I might take a look at it. Because there can be synergies with the right person that make life better for sure. Problem is about 85-90% are probably the wrong women, it's finding that 10-15% that is the hard part.

If a woman has to nag, then he's not your type. Don't nag, just dump! Some woman like to think they can change the loosers they fall for.

I don't get lonely, at least not so far (52yrs).

Re: nagging - coercing a person to do something they do not want to do. No one likes to be coerced. Why not do it onself if it's so important?

I'm single, so when someone asks me "what did you do over the weekend" I answer "whatever the h*ll I wanted, when I wanted." I'm going my own way and have never been happier.

This is why we stop to help others and not just drive by. :-)

It seems like swaths of parents here and there failed in teaching their children across a couple or so generations. I think a lot of it changed when the 2 income household thing came about. Parents too busy with their jobs, kids stuck in day care or raised by the boob tube. But I digress I'm just a ranting old fart.... oh and "get off my lawn"
I love such stories, I always get pissed and start to feel how this happens to me. Thank you for the feeling!

Hi, sorry for your circumstances, and I can't give you the Male perspective, but there are single RV groups available that can provide the social aspect you might miss by traveling alone. I think it's the best of both worlds because you can join in when you want and not when you want or need to be alone. I travel with the Wandering Individuals Network, but there are others too. Hope you find the right travel style to suit you.

I understand your concern, I'm recently widowed and plan on traveling full time. I've been looking into LOW (Loners on Wheels) also Escapees has at chapter for singles. They're not hook up or dating clubs. What they are are singles in pretty much the same situation as we are in. As for myself, I'm 66 and I'm hoping that I can find and meet other people that are approximately my age. I'm just going to join the groups and see how it goes. Does anyone have any experience with these groups?

I am a member of both the skps solos and the lows;both are worth joining if you value meeting other singles for social gatherings and travel;they are not dating clubs,but are more like family ;

I'm going to take the same stance as Spaceball but from the woman's perspective. I have my own money, have always paid my own way. I have chosen to live my RV life solo because I don't want to cook, clean and pick up after for anyone but me. I also love doing what I want to do when I want to do it. I find men make awesome friends and thats the relationship I look for now.

Blacklily56 - YOU are, indeed, the rarity in single women. Here's a look thru my window of twice divorced and not enthusiastic about that third time being a charm thing....
Every woman I have established any lasting relationship after & between my marriages (was single ten years playing my guitar about the country) eventually became consumed with my EX's even tho I had absolutely NO contact with them whatsoever. Then there were significant conflicts over my male friends taking too much time from "our relationship" and even jealousy over my 5 adult children when they wanted to spend time with me. I eventually withdrew from the relationship scene and find an incredible peace of living the single life full time in my RV. The nagging and insecurities of a significant other somehow is not worth having a relationship where one is defending oneself constantly.
Needless to say, whenever travel or entertainment or going out for $125 couples dinners was the scene I KNOW you can guess who plunk'd down the credit card come time to pay. Keep doing what you're doing because I think there are a kazillion guys out there hoping to meet you!

Well, I'm going to try a WIN gathering next month. It was supposed to be in my home town (Vancouver, WA) and starting yesterday but they moved over to Oregon and changed the dates to next month.
40 miles away and though Portland traffic so I'll coordinate my time to match theirs. Not sure what to expect yet.

You will have fun, that is a great group on the Lewis & Clark trip. I really enjoy my travels with the WINs. I'm off by myself right now but will be back with the group at some point, Have fun. We do make changes to the circuits due to weather, fires, availability, etc. Always check the website.

Mr. D, How do you manage to handle your 45 foot motor coach and a toad. I have a 40' Newmar and I'm really concerned, as to getting set up at the campgrounds. When my wife was alive we would unhook the toad usually by the registration office, then she would follow me out to the site. Help me get backed into the site and all was good. I'm concerned about having to unhook then leave the Explorer (toad) and then having to walk back (often quite a ways) to get the car. any . info would be helpful
