Alaska even
This will be my third trip.
First time I drove to Vancouver ferried over to Vancouver Island and drove to Port Hardy. Took the ferry to Prince Rupert which was the most beautiful ride of my life through very narrow fjords and passes that the cruise ships never see. From Prince Rupert I drove north on the Cassier highway stopping off in Steward/Hyder just so I could say I got to Alaska (and eat at the white bus) and then headed north to Watson Lake Yukon and back down the Alaska Highway to home. The Cassier is far more beautiful than the ALCAN in my opinion.
Last time I went straight up the Alaskan Highway to Fairbanks, Denali, etc and came straight back but got in some great fly fishing.
This time I drive to Prince Rupert and ferry all the islands and towns to Skagway and come back down the Cassier. I'll spend five days on Prince of Wales Islands boondocking. Bringing a Kayak this time. Not leaving until late June though.
I've started a blog at
ronsalaska.blogspot.com if you want to follow along in the preparation and the route.
