Wow - I just realized that this is my 2nd year anniversary for RVing full time. Man, has time FLOWN BY!! I am so glad I'm such an avid photographer - it's so neat to sit at my computer and look at the THOUSANDS of photos I've taken of all the wonderful places I've traveled. But there are so many more places to see . . . so many more things to do. And according to a new list of the top ten places to see in the U.S. before you die, I have 8 more to go!!! How many years has everyone else been out here living the life that others would KILL to live? We are SOOOOOO LUCKY!!

It was two years on the road in October for me.

I wonder what the poor people are doing?

It is almost 8 years for me and I hope I never have to give it up. I've not traveled for fun a lot in the last few years due to doing volunteer work with Katrina, a few tornadoes and floods but hope to do more "touristy" stuff in '09.

I agree GM, the time has flown by. It's hard to believe I sold me house in early 2001 and took off in my MH. During this time I have stayed in a non public campground less than 10 times. I love to boondock or stay in state/nat'l type parks.

IM,boondocking is a breeze and no working up to it needed. About the only thing I give up is going to sleep with the tv on. I love the freedom it gives to just stop whenever and wherever I want to and not worry about finding a cg. Out west there are so many places to park that are so beautiful and out of the way of the crowds. Oh yes, can't forget the overnight at the local Wal-Mart

Of course I don't give up the creature comforts partly because I did my coach customizing by adding solar panels and satellite internet. Onan also has this neat remote starter now which will start the genset automatically if the batteries get to low then shut it off when they are charged. Very nice. I've met many people out in the nowhere land with really nice rigs and with tents.

When you've worked up to it maybe there will be some of us solos around to boondock with you. Hope you are basking in the warm weather soon.

Olive - I so agree with you. When I first started RVing, I thought I HAD to be in an RV park EVERY NIGHT with full hookups, hot showers and cable TV. Not so . . . and I've had more fun and gone more places boondocking than ever. No more frantically trying to find an RV park when I decide to stop into a new town or making reservations that I usually had to cancel anyway because there was something more interesting where I was and I didn't want to leave to make the reservation! (Gosh - why did I ever do that??) I've learned to like sponge baths, learned new tricks with my hair and learned to toss the satellite dish and not need cable . . . I'm working on not needing TV at all but until shows like Boston Legal and Lost are over, that will be a hard thing to do!! Now that I know I can watch them on the computer when I want to and not be a slave to turn the RV on at specific times, I'm not chained to the TV anymore at all. I do miss waking up in the mornings with Matt Lauer and Ann Curry, but I can get my cup of coffee and my blankie and get on the sofa in the living room if I just have to have that. It's amazing what you can live without and what a great reward you get in return!!

Island Momma . . . you really don't have to live without that many creature comforts in order to boondock . . . it's just learning to do things new ways. You'll be out here soon . . . you'll see this unbelievable piece of scenery that you don't want to leave - one that will be even more glorious when you wake up to it - and you'll park that rig right there - trust me!! I'm so excited for you . . . can't wait until you get out here with us!!
