Nygal, lots of good advice. I would add to check out RV Consumer Group for objective opinions of different RVs.

I am now a solo Rver and a fulltimer after no previous RV experience and not having been camping in about 30 years. I jumped straight into the deep end. Selling my house and moving into an RV was both exciting and scary, adding to both is that I am not retired but trying to get a new mobile career going.

I also had never towed anything before I jumped into this new lifestyle.

Last year using on-line paid resources looked at the pros and cons for all the RV's for solo's. Without the belaboring the all the details, a 20'+ very well light-weight travel trailers are low risk entry. I purchased a new TT rate highest 'above average category' MSRP $21k sold for $15k. Total closer to $20k as I added solar panels, converters, extra propane, back-up camera, TV, LED lights++. But someone also bought a very nice used TT to use 'as is' for $10.5k; there's a good price range. Always thought I'd end up with a Class C and drool at a Class A. I guess drooling at price as well, but differ type of drool. Anyway, they are all great for different needs. Class A-C will depreciate much faster and have higher maintenance, insurance and gas costs, just too name a few. One of the biggest concerns about TT is backing-up, well one of mine anyway, but I've been told time again 'do it 25-30 times and you know how to do it'. Again, never thought I'd buy a TT, but the value for the money is hard to be beat in my humble opinion.

Congratulations on your decision. Looks like you have a nice set up. Enjoy your new life and meeting new friends. Take care and safe travels!

Wink Me too

When I sell my house I will be gone, having never done this before. It will take some guts, but since I've traveled for the last 20 years extensively, I have been everywhere but seen nothing. Sometimes you just need to go for it. Someday I guess I'll need to finally settle down, so I'll plan to put the proceeds from the house away and live on other savings and retirement. You only live once. You can do it if you try. Bob T

Yes, I do

Yes, oldone1942, I do. Been at it for 20 years. It's hard to see much at night, which is when I drive most times. Just in time stuff, you know. My biggest problem (other than getting the house sold) is figuring out what to see first. I moved to the west Kentucky area from Chi. 10 years ago because it's not too hot in summer and not too cold in winter, and now I can't wait to leave, Go figure. Bob T

Based on that statement, then you MUST try it. You'll find yourself jumping in with both feet, it's a trip (pun definitely intended )

How much money you feel like investing into it will make a huge difference.

I dunno, I stepped right off into a 40' beast and it turned out just fine.

here's what I CAN suggest though. The more A/C units, the better! It can get pretty hot in the summer with only 2 a/c's

AC's? We don't need no stinking AC's

Plasma800, Florida will be there next winter, and electricity can get expensive. I'm going "where the weather suits my clothes". It's all personal choice, of course. Bob T

Renting a Class C - as already suggested - is a great way to get comfortable or...

Unless you already have a tow vehicle, renting a pull behind would be difficult.

Visit dealers - new and used - and "feel" what appeals to you.

Keep asking questions to as many knowledgeable people as you can find.

Buy something affordable and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
