Being in Quartzsite, it's hard NOT to get new RV fever . . . . they are everywhere. And heaven forbid, if you should be foolish enough to take one for a test drive! My rig drives like the wagon off of The Beverly Hillbillies, I swear, in comparison to some of the rigs I have test driven. Talking about smooth as silk, great suspension, minimal rattling, no wind noise and tons of POWER!! You can't even hear the radio with all the road noise, wind noise, and rattling when I'm driving mine. Beautiful, shiny new full body paint jobs, sumptuous restrooms, luxurious bedrooms, huge refrigerators, beautiful decor . . . . . *sigh*!!! I really, really, really want one!!

Don't poke fun at the 10 year rule....Our trailer is now 30 years old and we still go to a lot of places.

We just tell them it is a restored classic or vintage trailer.

Probably shouldn't be on here as we are not of the solo club but what the heck. Your post just caught my eye GM and I have to agree all the new technology in these things are amazing. We got the bug on our last trip as well and after driving a few we just had to buy the one we now own. We couldn't afford a brand new one but just moving up from our 94 Bounder was quite a leap. Now if winter would just go away so we could enjoy it that would be great. Oh well soon hopefully we will have some warmth and some of this Can't wait!

My travel partners all have older rigs . . . except for one that has a 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bay and I LOVE that rig. Tiffin has such great ideas and it's such great quality. Alas, I won't be getting one. The dealers want to bottom line trade-ins ($18k for mine and it values out at $36k for low retail not including all the upgrades - mechanical and aesthetic) I'm not going to give my rig away after I've put so much money into improving it, (not getting ANY credit for the mechanical upgrades- Banks, Gear Vendor, Lifetime shocks, steering stabilizer, solar - that's $20k right there) . . . so unless I can sell it outright - and that will be difficult considering how often I move - it won't be happening anytime soon . . . . not willing to take on a $400 a month payment on a retired fixed income. And not borrowing enough to get a 30 year loan. Wow - a 30 year loan on a motorhome?? LOL!! I'll probably list mine when it's buying time again in the spring and see what happens . . .

GM: Your thinking on your coach is right. If your rig is doing the job and you like moving around, why pay through the nose for that. Yesterday is history, today is all there is, tomorrow may never come.

Wait wait!
Parks have limitations on older rvs?
Maybe I'm glad the check's not been handed over YET!

I'd appreciate any info.

Yes, some RV parks do have "rig age" restrictions, but most RV parks do not. The places which will not allow rigs older than 10 years (this age may vary a bit and also may be dependent upon the appearance of the rig) are usually high-end "resort" parks (or those which have a jumped-up opinion of their facilities!) which cater to large class A rigs. Some places also have restrictions against 5th wheels, TTs, class rigs smaller than 27', any class B van camper, truck campers, and pop-ups.

So, relax; assuming you're not hauling around in a dirty, broken-down, junked-up old "beater", you'll find plenty of very pleasant, clean, well-managed RV parks which will be happy to find a space for you, your 10+-year-old rig, and your money.

If you keep your rig clean and presentable most parks will not bother you. I had a Fleetwood that was over 10 years once, but it looked like new. Never had any one even ask me about its year of birth.
There are a lot of Prevost, and other high line coaches on the road that are well over the 10 year mark. So go forth and enjoy.

Having "work camped" at RV parks, the reason for that rule is to keep the total junkers out and maintain the nice look of the park. If your rig is clean, in good shape, etc., most parks will let you in. High end parks that cater to diesel pushers, full body paint jobs, etc. probably won't though. Like the former post said, "resorts" are a different breed of RV park. I don't go to parks much anymore so I'm not going to worry about it - but I do try to keep my rig as nice looking as possible. I think it reflects on ME.
