I am 57 and a Mom of grown sons but maybe not old enough to be a mother of the RV guys out there, nor do I want to be. Friendships are fine, mothering and/or dating I have had enough of, thank you very much LOL!! Welcome aboard anyway,Jim.
GM, I will send any single fellas I meet your way...deal??

Jim - single men AND women RV'ers stick out like daring individuals who live life on their own terms!! Trust me . . . single men are in the minority . . . single women are in the majority . . . and you will be a very hot commodity. I don't know what your age is, but if it's under 70, I'd like to invite you to join the Wandering Individuals in Yuma, December 19th through Jan 2nd. If you're over 70, there's a huge singles gathering in Quartzite starting in January . . . Loners on Wheels, Escapee's SOLO's, Wandering Individuals, etc. There will be tons of singles there. They're expecting 120 rigs in Yuma in December . . . and as I said - MEN ARE IN THE MINORITY. If you are older and more settled, LoW might be more to your taste. If you are younger and still active, WIN might be the ticket for you. They kayak, hike, bike, etc. and travel together in groups all over the country. Traveling alone IS lonely . . . traveling with other singles is not. Just depends on if you have the patience to deal with others or want to head out and see the country on your own schedule.
Big warm hug and welcome to the Solo RV'er site. We're here for you, whatever you decide to do. And ask any question you'd like . . . someone here will have an answer!

Just where are all of these single women. All of the ones I have encountered are old enough to be my mother.

Hey Jim,
Yes, there are single gals traveling around Texas. I was in Boerne, TX this past weekend for the Texas Boomers Christmas rally. We had a wonderful time. I can fill you in on the activities in the Houston area. You can also go to the South Central section on this forum to get information about activities and rallies.

OK - I am in the west - Arizona to be exact - and that's where all the GTG's are going to be in December and January. But I'm sure there are GTG's all over the country if you just check. I just know about these because this is where I happen to be. Check out the websites for LoW, WIN, Escapees Solo's and I'm sure there will be a chapter or a GTG near you . . . or within driving distance.
The single women I've met range from 52 (me - LOL) to ones I'm sure are old enough to be your mother, Dirk. But even some of the older ones are amazing. One woman that's in her late 60's or early 70's is HIKING THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL!! Specifically, ones I've met and have become friends with are 56, 62, and 65. And there are a lot more out there. I had no idea there were so many single women RV'ing alone and full time. But there are. Unfortunately, I have only met two men that are anywhere near my age - 55 and 56. (My son keeps telling me that if I don't want to be a widow and go through all this again, I should find a YOUNGER man . . . LOL!!) You gotta go where the women are, Dirk, Al, Jim and all the rest of you. Just like I'm attempting to go where the men are! That's going to be singles GTG's.
Personally, I think there needs to be an RV'ers dating site . . . like Match.com. Would make things a lot easier out here. Most guys and especially most women on a dating site aren't going to want to pull up roots and hit the road. I have a really good friend in Phoenix and he thinks I have lost my mind, being out here RV'ing full time. I'm the ONLY person he knows that does this and he just doesn't get how someone walks away from their house and being near their kids and travels all the time. And I can't convince him of what he's missing either!! He thinks he still needs to be working just because he's not 65 yet . . . says his work ethic wouldn't let him do this. I told him one month of not having to get up and report into a boss, not having to cut the lawn, fight traffic, etc., and his "work ethic" would go out the window!!

ELKHARTTJIM: Sounds like you might be from Indiana. I know what you mean, but go ahead and do it. I should heed my own advice, but I do get out occasionally. There are not a lot of us in any given campground at the same time. So the guy next door might give you the evil eye a time or two. Good manners is the key.

Well . . . how would I have known? Everyone thought I was nuts to do it . . . nice to know I'm not nuts after all. . . .

Interesting.. how two people can read the same thing and interpret it entirely different.
