Hello everyone. Two months ago I retired and now will start RVing in the Southwest. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and have a small Toyota Motorhome that I am starting out with. I want to see if this is the lifestyle that I want and then may upgrade. I will be traveling Solo except for my Springer Spaniel, Buddy.

Mike

welcome to rving. i love it and hope you will also. so a few times i have wished for a smaller rv. a good comfortable place to sleep, still see all the sights, and no bleed so much at the fuel pumps. i hope you the very best and have great fun and relaxation.

Welcome Mike! A springer in a small MH? Wow - you're brave!
It's not a lifestyle for everyone for sure. You can be solo or not anywhere - the lifestyle is the thing. The moving around, meeting new people at every turn, seeing the amazing things this country has to offer. . . It can be a challenge, but a wonderful, fulfilling one for those that love it. I hope you do and look forward to seeing you down the road!!

Welcome again and keep us posted!!

Hi All,

Hey Mike16W,

I wish you the best! Like JazzZen has said this lifestyle is not for everyone, but I sure love it!! I started RVing in 1990 in a pop-up with the family, retired in 2007 and now travel in a 34' motorhome with my Boston Terrier!l I just love spending the Winters in Sunny Warm Fla! Again best of luck, with what ever you decide!

Thanks everyone for welcoming me. I looked up the two parks in Southern Arizona and they look like a great place to visit. I can't wait to get on the road after Christmas.

Mike
I'm getting on the road in a couple of weeks after a way-too-long stay here in WA. It's my home and I love it, but I've really missed being on the road.
I'll be in the Phoenix area for Christmas and will be heading south shortly after. Maybe we could get those of us in the area together? Anyone else going to be close?
There are mixed feelings about this amongst solos, but I always enjoy my stay at the LOW (loners on wheels) park in Deming, NM. It's a public park, but there are always lots of solos there and it's nice not to be a 5th wheel (no pun intended) at cards and pot lucks and such. If you make it that far east, you might try it.

Hi Mike

Were in the South Valley and visit the State Parks often New Mexico State Parks
If your an old guy like me you can get a yearly pass for $100 and then the cost goes to $4 a night. Not many with sewer but water and electricity is easy to find. We like them because there not your typical overnight parking lot and have hiking trails and large shaded spaces for the most part.

Mike Welcome and have fun. If you boondock the slabs around the Salton Sea are pretty cool in the winter.
