There was recently a report on all the major news channels that science had reported that men are genetically predispositioned to cheat. Oprah even had a show about it. So - what's your opinion? Are they predispositioned to cheat? Is that a major factor in the escalating number of divorces?

No offense meant, Dean. It was just a scientific report - doesn't mean all men cheat. Just a topic for conversation.

Boy,you are gonna be hard pressed to get many responses from us men. I waited a long time to get married for this reason.I had many relationships before hand and some were serious, most not.I never had the heart to cheat, but would end ties quickly if I met someone else.It works both way,I caught one girlfriend red handed, all she did was bruise my ego.I like the hunt, but the charm wears off.Trust is what led me to marrying Karen and she knows I will always be faithfull. But ,once in awhile its nice to get your ego stroked.

Thanks for the response Frankie. That's what I'm looking for - input from all sides. Notice that more men have commented than women?

GraciesMom,
It is true that men are genetically pre-disposed to "cheat". However, it is really a biological drive to reproduce that creates the "urge". Most men grow out of this in their later 20's and become more mature and are able to control it. Some never do.

Well, according to some scientific study, 2 out of 5 men have a particular gene that supposedly makes them less likely to for a lasting monagamous relationship.
I'd like to find out who funded that study. Probably will find out it's Pfizer - maker of Viagra!

Ha ha ha ...an interesting discussion. I am in an unenviable position of knowing that men have greater struggles suppressing ego-serving impulses (as well as other impulses) than women. I have never personally (to my knowledge) been cheated on but that is a sample size of one hubby only and a series of flakes before him who were fairly short-lived anyway. No contest.
Of course there are many (and noteable!!) exceptions to that predisposition. Clearly some are here on this site. I think it just means women have to be more wary. There are also many many trivial and vain women who also exercise little self-restraint.
Even more interesting LOL is the fact that male brains shrink 40% in weight between their 40th and 70th birthdays LOLOL. Cracks me up as I have to ask what has been 'lost' over those years or is it just 'consolidated'???...other than the obvious?? Women's brains are protected for almost two decades longer by estrogen and other gender-specific factors....
Now, ain't that a kicker?

IslandMomma . . . . WELL - that explains a lot! The part that shrinks must be the common sense part so that's why they run off with trophy wives!

Ok,let me get this straight. At first there is a section set up for single RV'ers.Right?.Then a thread set up for how single guys are more likely to cheat.Right?.Then posts how there aren't many guys posting to that thread.Right?.(can you all see where I am going with this?)Well studies as side, don't think if I found a really good lady,I wouldn't be looking for anything else.It wouldn't make any sense for me to do that. And if I found a lady that I felt wasn't what I wanted, well I would be honest and tell her that and move on.Just doesn't make any sense to have anything on the side when what you have isn't worth having in the first place.
