I retired at the age of 55 after working for the Department of Defense for 35 years. I thought of going on the road full time but have decided that I am just as happy making a few long trip each year with the exception of 2008

I injured my knee and had a couple of bouts with kidney stone so I didn't get to travel at all.
This coming year on my sand planner I plan to make a trip to Big Bend NP and up the East coast via motorcycle to Maine. as well as other trips.
The bad thing I have to overcome is when I travel is I need to realize that I am now retired and don't have to get back home.

Lou - that was the hardest thing for me - trying to convince my body and my mind that I didn't HAVE to get up early, I didn't HAVE to be anywhere and I didn't HAVE to be doing something. It took MONTHS . . . PROBABLY CLOSER TO A YEAR!!!!
