Has anyone had any experience with online dating sites? Single RV clubs? If so - post your experiences here to educate the rest of us!! We are a unique group . . . while most say they'd "love" to RV full time, when it comes down to putting the rubber to the road (so to speak), it's hard to give up that house and the stability. So . . . how do you find someone to share you dream of life on the road?

Don't see any responses here or to the chat rooms. I guess that means nobody else has the answers either.

In my experience, I found online dating sites to be more for "permanent" residents of an area....

Based on my experience, you usually share emails then progress to phone calls and then plan to meet this person at a coffee shop or somewhere on "neutral" turf.... Pretty difficult to do if you're traveling the lower 48 in an RV unless,as I mentioned, you're using the RV as living quarters in a more "permanent" setting.

It bears mentioning that this in fact was what I myself was doing at the time I met my lady friend and I have since made the decision to sell the rig and settle down here in south Florida.... I had "looked" at the dating sites in this area, but did not meet my new friend there. I had actually "given up" on meeting someone and had stopped looking.
Once I let my guard down,

BAM!! There she was!!

More thoughts.... My lady friend has a long time girl friend who in fact is on one of these sites and we all sat and looked at some of her competition, to offer constructive criticism and help her "tweak" her ad.... Imagine my surprise to see some of the very same ladies from a year ago, still on the site, so I'm not sure there's an easy answer.

Something else that's fun to do.... Do a "reverse search" and search as the opposite sex" and see what's out there that you're competing with for dates. It's hilarious, yet educational.

Lastly.... if you do write an ad, try to use something in it more original than "like walks on the beach"....
I once read an editorial on one of these sites where the gentleman said that "if everyone who mentioned walking on the beach really was on the beach there'd be NO room to move".

I love the beach comment! So - you met your lady friend online? Did I read that right? Actually, I met two people online . . . one six years ago and one 3 years ago. The first one turned out to be a con-man and the second had been single for his entire life (and after dating him for a while, I now know why . . . ) I don't put much stock in dating sites - but wanted to get other's opinions on them for any single RV'ers that might be considering it. I am content in being single . . . I don't think anyone would want to compete with Gracie! If "he" happens along, then so be it, but I don't think I'm going to go looking!! But for those who want to look . . . and for those who have looked . . . we can share experiences here and learn from each other. As far as checking out my competition . . . LOL!! As my mom said, there's always going to be someone out there that's younger, prettier and with bigger . . . assets!! LOL!!

I did not meet her online, it was only after I actually "quit" looking that in fact I did meet her....

I bit the bullet and went online to check it out - doing research to report back here - LOL!! I went on an online dating site . . . what a nightmare! I've never seen such a parade of damaged individuals in my life! I did go out on two dates - and it was like being at a job interview - sitting across the table from a total stranger!! I prefer the old fashioned way and I will wait until "he" happens across my path if he does as it was meant to be or I will just continue to enjoy my wonderfully blessed life with my two doggies and the adventure of discovering America (and Canada and Mexico) on my own!! I'm looking forward to the LOW rally in October! I'm just looking forward to getting BACK ON THE ROAD!!
