A great dessert from the Rival Crock Pot, Incredibly Easy Recipes book:
Makes 8 to 10 servings (depends who's there)
1 can (21 Oz.) cherry pie filling
1 pkg. (18 1/4 Oz.) yellow cake mix
1/2 cup(1 stick) butter, melted
1/3 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
whipped topping or vanilla ice cream
1. Place pie filling in Crock Pot
2. Mix cake mmix and melted butter in bowl. Spread evenly over pie filling. Sprinkle nuts on top.
Cover & cook on LOW 3-4 hours or on HIGH 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
3. Spoon into serving dishes, and serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream.
I have modified this receipe using different pie fillings to suite our tastes at various times. One of our favorites is apple pie filling and spice cake mix. If you have a large group you can double the pie filling and leave the cake mix as is.
Enjoy, Janet

My wife makes a great version of this using crushed vanilla wafers instead of a cake mix. No cooking involved. Make it just as you would a graham craker crust for a cheesecake, then add the toppings.

I know, this thread is suppose to be for the ladies but since my wife don't like messing with a computer, it becomes my life to subsitute in her place so here goes.
Liked the idea of the "Cherry Delight" but not having any Cherry Pie filling, decided to try Peach Pie filling instead. (Was suppose to be for a cobbler.) Also, went snooping through a local "Best Buy" store and found a quart and half crock pot for less then 20 bucks-----just about right for two people. Ok Results??
For me, I liked it, for wife----much too sweet. She wanted to throw it out, I objected, (for a change I won)so now have some left in the frig. However, guess we'll have to go to non-pie type filling and sweeten to her taste.
Would like to thank you ladies that come up with these receipes. With our little crock pot should have more fun with them.
Marty

You might want to try the sugar-free "Splenda" sweetened pie fillings. I have found them to be much less sweet than standard pie fillings (peaches tend to be firmer too). Many store brands can now be bought made with Splenda. "Comstock" is a good name brand line.

Was the 1 1/2 quart crock pot big enough? Mine is 2 1/2 quarts and I hesitated using this recipe as I thought it was too small.

Diana: Just checked with my chief cook about your question. Her said there was maybe an inch or inch and half from the top when done.

We toured a base commissary today (I'm retired Military) and found a can of Cherrie pie mix that states "no sugar added." So we're going to give it a try next to see what happens.
Thanks Ladies for the idea's,
Marty

Marty,
Try the recipe using Apple Pie Filling, with spice cake mix, I add some chopped apple and a small dash of vanilla. Gives a different twist to a great dessert.

Dianne,
I believe it is a 2 QT Hamilton Beach. I use the same crockpot for your Chocolate Upside Down Cake. With one can of filling and one box of cake mix, it only fills about 1/2 of the pot.
I have tried a few different mix and match fillings and cake mixes.
Enjoy
Jan
