Ok ladies.......need your help. Have a new Sharp Convecton Microwave. It has a stainless steel interior. Have cooked in it 5-6 times and it has several splatters that have cooked on to the stainless walls. Have tried soap and water, 409, hasen't done the job. The manual is pretty vague. Don't want to use a green scratch pad or SOS pad as it will scratch the stainless. Has anyone tried anything that has worked? Do I dare try oven cleaner? Any help is appreciated.

My wife uses a soft cloth and baking soda or Barkeepers Friend. You can also heat a small bowl of ammonia and water in the micro wave and let it sit and steam for a bit.

DO you all like the Convection ?
Does food taste different ?
I'm a real cook and our new RV does not have an Oven, so I'm wondering if I'll actually use the Convection a lot.
OPINIONS PLEASE ? Thanks........

I recently acquired a microwave/convection oven for my house and am learning to cook with it. It's no good for frozen biscuits, but a friend tells me that 'scratch' biscuits do well in it. I've prepared corn muffins in it and they did fine. You have to cook a little less time, so keep a watch on what's cooking. I think I'll like it when I've learned how to use it. My friend who uses his convection oven a lot swears it makes better cakes, muffins, etc than a regular oven. I guess we'll see on that.

My 2 cents worth. I have a convection in my MH and my house. I will never live without one again. I found everything works as well in it as a "normal" oven. (Even my frozen bisquits) Time and temp in my MH is the same as regualar. The oven makes the conversions for me. The one in my home I adjust the temp a bit and watch the time. Takes a few less minutes. It is worth learning how to use it.

I use mine in MH too. But I found out you must put everything on racks. Even if you do chicken breasts. It seems the bottom of the convection is too hot for the pan/corning dish etc. to sit on it,I also ordered books for the convection oven. They are really handy, but I quess you can go online and type in "convection oven recipes" and get some good ideas. Sometimes Chocolat, it's really trial & error. Like my pork chops that were like shoe leather

Oh No SUE........but hey, I have seen a day when I did that in my REAL OVEN as a young woman.
SO...does it brown and all ? Like cornbread ?
It really does make it crisp and brown ?
Thanks....

I quess if you used butter it would make it crisp and brown, but I did my meat in water only. The biscuits I did were sort of brown and done inside.

We have encountered the same problem with our Sharp Convection Microwave - salmon splattered the stainless steel walls and will not come off. We decided to phone Sharp today - a waste of time - they could offer no advice.
Michaels - did you ever get the stains off?

I used one of the sponge things that says it is safe for teflon pans and got the majority of splatters off the inside of mine. Put a bowl of water in, microwaved until it boiled, then let it sit in the oven for a while. That helps soften it up, then scrubbed with the sponge. No scratches.
I have had mine for about 6 months and the only thing I have had not cook good is the pie crust for my pumpkin pie. The filling was done but the crust was doughy. Next one I baked the crust some without filling, then added the filling. It did better. Has anyone else had this problem?
No problem with the frozen biscuits, make them all the time and they brown real nice. I baked all my holiday cookies and they were just as good as in a regular oven. Sure beats the RV oven.

Millie, my dear wife is still struggling with the Convection/MW. Yesterday she did some "bars" and she had to have them in much longer than the recipe called for. She is wondering if our unit is providing enough heat.
She still wishes she had a gas oven.
She seems to have real trouble browing things.
