Convection oven. Metal pans?

The Whirlpool Gold Series microwave convection oven in our new rig has contradictory instructions. It warns against using metal pans, yet aren't metal pans used during convection cooking? I don't want to have to buy glass pizza pans and baking sheets. Any input?

Don't know about a newer model convection/microwave but our old unit has a metal riser rack for use on convection to allow air flow under the pans and we've used metal pans for years on convection.

Some convection microwaves use microwave pulses during convection cooking. This may dictate the type of cookware. I hope that the manuals provided with the oven explain exactly how yours works, because the downloadable documents on Whirlpool's website are horrible.

It depends on which option you are using
1: convection ONLY, no microwave side ( same as using a regular home style electric oven, make sure to preheat when baking and use what ever rack provided for air circulation) you should be able to use metal cookware
2: combo ( convection with added microwave pulse for faster cooking) or straight microwave then none metal cookware
