Hey folks, I'm betting about now, yer wondering why I title all my threads on Cooking, "From the Kamper Kitchen". Well, lemme give you a bit of background and it'll all make sense.

The idea for the "Kamper Kitchen" came a couple months back when I was joking about doing a kind of on-site cooking show for the internet based around the concept of making dishes that you could cook in a Pickup Camper. The idea never really got anywhere, but I've always kept that idea in the back of my head. If I somehow wound up with an offer to get paid to go to varying campsites around the country and do a show on cooking and camping, then it'd probably happen .

Now the name itself, comes from the name of my rig. Its an old girl, a 1974 KIT "Kamper" 1106 Slide-in Pickup Camper. It was the biggest model the company made back then, and I found her in a nut barn a few years ago for sale for $1500.

She started out as my weekend fishing rig, till a few months ago I got a job offer to finally work, albiet as a contractor, in my field.

The high cost of fuel made me decide to become a fulltimer out of my camper rather than fork out an insane amount of money trying to commute to my new job, or pay the exorbinant rent rates that most apartment complexes in the area wanted.

Since then, I've been experimenting in my camper's very small kitchen with various dishes and have been slowly compiling a list of my own. One resource any Kamper Cook should have is a good, 70s or early Betty Crocker Red Book. This book has basically guides to alot of recipes in it that are made the old fashioned way, from scratch.

Well, now ya know the basic background of the "Kamper Kitchen", now its time to give ya the cookbook.

I'll be updating it from time to time, so check back .
