I have often wondered why the cooking forum is under: hobbies, passions and pastimes. Cooking and eating are necessities, not something I would consider "fun" or something you do when you are bored and have time on your hands! I think a seperate forum under RV Life Styles would make more sense-but then what do I know!

I consider eating DWs cooking a fun necessity. If she gets bored she can always make cookies or some other delectable treat and I dont care where she posts it at, I"ll find it.

I guess I look at it differently. I consider cooking & eating a passion (eating more so ). It's all in one's point of view.

I agree with Dianne... I would think it belongs under lifestyles. Now if it was "Restaurants" then that would be Hobbies, Passions And Pastimes. For example "Favourite BBQ Joints". But "Favourite BBQ Recipes" is cooking and that would be better under lifestyle.

Cooking is not a necessity.. Many people go through their entire life and NEVER cook or even set foot in a kitchen.. They eat at restaurants, or someone else does the cooking.

However, I do agree, eating in a neccessity.

But Really GOOD cooking... Now that's a passion.

As a total newbie here, I have to agree with Dianne. I couldn't find the food category, and that's the main one I was looking for, as we're going out on our first longer trip (a week instead of a weekend) over Christmas and I need to figure out the food!

I eventually found it, obviously, but I too thought having it under Hobbies and Passions was a bit odd.

Anyway, just my .02. I will now continue my way through all the threads in this forum, making notes of all of the good ideas!

When young people return from a vacation, they talk about what they seen and did.
When older people return from a vacation, they talk about where and what they ate.

I do neither, I don't remember EVER going on a vacation except maybe if going on leave while in the Navy. But I never went to vacation/leisure places, went home to visit folks.

A friend told me one time that he eats because he HAS to and not because he likes it. WOW. To me one of the pleasures of life is good food. It is a necessity but a fun one!

Eating is a passion and cooking is a necessity to fuel that passion.

Second, or is it a twenty second?

Cooking, and of course eating the result, is clearly a passion.

Cooking and eating are definitely passions for me too! We even route our RV trips around farms so we can buy specific local produce. I loooove good food.
