Is tomato sauce corrosive to........

those plastic containers?I'm refering to the
ziplock,that are used to store food in the freezer.Today I washed some items that show like
a redish color but as you look closer the plastic is etched........Is it normal?Have you had the same happened to your containers?

I've had that happen to me several times but I've never heard anything "officially" about it. Once I had a thin plastic baggie of tomato sauce develop a couple pinhole-sized leaks... I do not think it was "pinched" or anything... I always thought it was due to the acid in the tomatoes. I tended to keep leftover tomato sauce in glass canning jars. It was always something I had (in excess) around the house.

Yep this is normal. It will put holes in aluminum foil in a matter of hours too.

Will do in your brass drain pipes also. We used to have to replace them often until they came out with PVC pipe.
