We love the oven and how it works, but are having some problems cleaning the turntable and stainless interior. The manual suggests oven cleaner pads that have cleaner in them. Anyone have any suggestions? Nancy

I would be happy to look online for the manual if you provide the model of your Sharp Convection Oven. I have a printed version for ours, the smaller Carousel Grill-2, and it states 'NEVER SPRAY OVEN CLEANERS DIRECTLY ON ANY PART OF YOUR OVEN."

The model number may be on the label right inside the door (ours is there).
The link to the Sharp / Convection / Manuals is Sharp manuals
I'd be happy to help with anything I can.

Nancy,
I use Revere copper and stainless-steel cleaner. It comes in a little bottle & is the consistency of Soft Scrub but much less abrasive. I got it at a local hardware store. With gentle rubbing, it's able to get off the grease film on the SS interior of our convection oven. NEVER use oven cleaner on stainless. It will pit & ruin the surface.
You could probably use the oven cleaner on the turntable, but only if it is glass. Oven cleaner is ok for use on porcelain finishes so it would probably work on the glass turntable. But the oven cleaner I have needs heat to activate it. I'd have to bake the turntable & that's too much work for such a small item. For stubborn baked on grease on ours, I use Soft Scrub, a scrubby sponge & some "elbow grease" to get it clean. Looks good as new when I'm done.
Hope my ideas help you.

Thank you very much for the advice BillArf. For some reason, I doubt that it's your usual piece of cardboard and I wouldn't want to ruin ours.

With any microwave oven, including the Sharp that you are describing (and that we have)... put a microwave safe bowl filled with water and some cut up lemon pieces in the oven, microwave for 5 minutes, CAREFULLY remove (bowl will be hot), then just clean it with a soft scrubby pad... everything will be loosened and soft. (many thanks to the british ladies on BBC's "How clean is your house?") They are right.

To clean the inside of your oven, use a commercial oven cleaner. However, do not get the cleaner on the wave-guard cover. This silver-colored cover will be either on the side wall or roof of the oven's interior. This cover is made of mica and thus is very fragile. As a result, it'll deteriorate if it gets covered in oven cleaner. Also, never remove this cover since you'll never get it back on properly. I learned my lesson the hard way and it took six months before I was able to find a replacement wave guard cover. Now when I want to clean the oven, I tape a piece of foil over the wave guard cover and spray the rest with oven cleaner. With the help of a little elbow grease, it works like a charm. Good luck.

I believe Jackm is referring to the regular oven, not the convection oven originally in question.
I repeat, NEVER use oven cleaner to clean the convection oven. It would be a disaster.
