Back when our son was a Boyscout we made solar cookers with some pretty good success. Solar cookers are VERY widely used in many 3rd world countries today with great success.

Do any of you have a solar cooker? Do you use it? How do you use it? Can you share some techniques and recipes?

Tell us about your experiences.

Larry has been considering this option when we go FT next year as we plan to do quite a bit of boondocking. He found a company I believe is called SUN OVEN. There's also a SOLAR OVEN SOCIETY.
He's become a dutch oven (cast iron with legs) chef when we're camping-cakes, stuffed pizza, lasagna-you name it, so he's open to other off the grid ways to cook.

I have a Sun Oven, about 1yrs old. Works good, expensive paid same price them as they are now. They do work real good, cooked a lots of beans, stew, wife baked a small turkey in it. Good for baking bread. Any thing you can cook in a regular you can cook in them. Temps between 250-375F.
