1. Don't really remember "the best steak" from a restaurant--Jess and Jims in Martin City, Mo is pretty good.
2. Costco meats, IMO, cannot be beat for a retail/big chain supply.
3. Never ordered meat by mail
4. Mom and Pop: look for local beef. Around here (90 miles away) the Strong City Grocery is our "must stop", about 20 miles west of I-35/US50 HWY. No styrofoam packages and they make their own sausages. If you don't like a steak you see, they will cut one for you.

Earlier post above, the downtown Herford House resturant about 20th and Main in Kansas City burned down. I think the owner was arrested for arson. There are a couple of others open. The steak house at the KC stockyards is the Golden Ox. Been there for about 75 years and they serve a pretty good steak also.

1. Maybe Pinnacle Peak in Tucson.
2. Like others, I'll go with Costco. Their pre-formed burgers are an inch thick and excellent.
3. We've tried Omaha Steaks with good results.
4. I'm about to try our local farmer's market to see how their steaks are.

My wife likes hers done medium-well. I like mine (as she puts it) mooing on the plate

1. Where have you had the best ever restaurant steak?
2. What grocery chain has the best store brand steak?
3. Who has the best mail order steak or is that a non-starter?
4. Are there mom and pop stores that sell local meats that are the best?

I myself only eat seafood, but I do know how a great steak is prepared. The best fish will be the ones we catch.
The problem with this kind of question set is there is no single answer...

1: I like Laffery's On 7 mile near Telegraph in Detroit, MI. but then it was within walking distance of where I used to park this house when it was parked at my Stick House (about 4 blocks)

2: None, you get your best steak from a butcher shop, NOT s grocery store

3: I have no clue and would never buy steak that way anyway because you get FRESH at the butcher shop.

3: Yes, since many of them get their meat each morning from the last 2 answers.

Actually the question #1: Best steak is prepared at John's Grill in my opinion. (That's the Coleman Road Trip that is sitting just outside my Motor home as I type.. I'm John, of course, it's my grill )

Cattlemens Cafe in Stockyards city, Oklahoma City, The very best steak in existence. They have been doing it since 1925 when the cafe changed hands in a dice game. Best quality steaks, fixed right and served with great sides including their own house brand salad dressing. all just my opinion as I also love the Hereford House in KC and you can get great steaks in several locations but rarely a chain resturant.

You know..... I grew up on a dairy farm.. Now my parents served some mighty fine steak.

But good steak starts with the Farm, how do you treat the calves, how do you feed & fatten them Do you feed 'em Bovine Growth Hormone or let them grow naturlly.. Do they get lots of sun and air and fields of grass or are they confined to a pen.

Well..... As I said Grew up on a dairy farm. Lots of Grass, No BGH,
