As has been our tradition for the last number of years, we will take the RV to the Fredericksburg RV Park in Fredericksburg, TX for Thanksgiving. The park owners host a Thanksgiving lunch where they supply the meats and everyone brings a side dish, dessert, etc. We then have family and friends stop by to do Christmas shopping, touring the Hill Country and just visiting over the holidays.

Normandy Farms Campground has a Thanksgiving dinner served in their rec. hall before Thanksgiving. I hear that they do a great job.

We will not be cooking in the RV. We are going to cook at our children's home. I thought I was finally going to get away from cooking one year. Not the case guess they like mom's cooking.

Thanksgiving to me would not be the same if I did not cook

my own turkey
my own dressing (made from my own recipe)
giblet gravy[/list]...anything after those items are bonuses!
Sacs is not a pumpkin pie fan - so a lot of time there will be an apple pie for him. I do love pumpkin pies with real whipped cream but I don't need to eat a whole pumpkin pie by myself - so I won't bake one if it is just the two of us.

I do expect that we will be in the rig again on Turkey Day - as we have done for all but two years of the last 15 to 20 years.

Let us know if anyone will be heading into No Ca. and need a place to land on Thanksgiving! (Mama is a planner )

Obviously I'm way late in joining this discussion, but I just happened to be poking around in the RV Gourmet section tonight and saw it.

I thought some of you might be interested in how we did Thanksgiving this year.

On Thanksgiving day, we needed to travel from the Phoenix area to Yuma for a dog show. So I used the following recipe but with one large turkey breast rather than chicken breasts, put the slow cooker in the sink, plugged it in and turned on the inverter. I used one entire box of Mrs. Cubbins seasoned bread crumbs for the stuffing and added celery, onions, raisins, etc.

Add some salad and cranberry sauce when we got to our destination and Thanksgiving dinner was ready. It turned out great! I'll definitely cook turkey and stuffing this way again.

Crock Pot Chicken and Stuffing

6 Chicken Breast, Boned and Skinned
1 Cup Chicken Broth
1 Can Cream of Chicken soup
1 Can Cream of Mushroom soup
1/4 Cup Milk
4 cups dried seasoned bread cubes
1/2 Cup Melted butter
Salt and pepper to taste

Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper and place in crock pot. Add chicken broth. Combine both cans of soup and milk and pour over chicken breasts. Sprinkle stuffing mix over all. Drizzle melted butter on top. Cook on low for 6 – 8 hours.

Strange that you ask, but about 6 yrs ago we decided to go to Asheville NC, on top of a mountain in nearby Weaverille. When we arrived, we found it was like staright up to the CG. All was well to the top, and what a beautiful view. It was a little cool, but nice. We got all set-up on Wednesday, so by late evening the CG mgr. comes around and tells everyone to put up their waterhoses for the night, we are having freeze warnings. Thursday was a beautiful day, the Turkey was in the oven, we had mashed potatoes, dressing, candid yams, and all the trimmings that go with it. We watched the Football game on TV while Cheryl and I enjoyed what was one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I've had in a lot of years. We were very warm with all the comforts of home, fanstatic holiday.
