I have owned Chevy and Ford diesels and know they are more expensive to maintain (hold more oil, filters are more expensive, require frequent fuel filter changes, etc.). So I now own a Ford F150 Ecoboost that will pull 11,000 lbs (not sure if it will hold up doing that long-term) and get better mileage on cheaper fuel with less maintenance when not pulling. I have also owned two Ford F350 trucks powered with the gas V10 as well as several (5 I think) diesel powered Ford's.

Is it worth buying a 6 or 7 year older motorhome with 20,000+ miles on it when I can get a new one for the difference in the chassis, power, fuel economy, etc.?

Is the Newmar made better than Thor Outlaw?

I had one of the first "toy haulers" - a "Patio Hauler" 5th wheel trailer with actual wood floor like a trailer in back, made into screened-in porch. That was around 1997.

Thanks for your help and insight. If you want to email me directly you can do so at emartin6591 @ suddenlink.net

Hello. I am very close to purchasing a used 2007 Newmar Allstar 4153 like yours. It only has 21,000 miles and appears to be in very good condition.

Can you give me some tips about the pros and cons of the unit.

It is a bit difficult to pay as much for a used unit that is 6 going on 7 years old with over 20,000 miles when I could get a brand-new Outlaw for less. I am leaning toward the Newmar due to the mid-engine chassis and the diesel power.

I wondered what kind of MPG you get?

Besides a 400,000 mile life expectancy on the Cummins ISL350 HP engine and assuming better fuel economy what other pluses or minuses do you see?
