Mark, Like I said my 87 (454) had both V-belts and a serp belt..Kinda strange but they (GM) might have used leftover V-belt parts, Who knows..
I run aluminum radiators in the race cars (weight savings) but really like the BIG brass the best cuz of the better cooling results in the desert heat.
One of the reasons I've mentioned the "Stewart water pump" is it's a fully machined NEW chebby pump and the water flow is 19 GPM VS the stock 9 GPM pump....
108º in Indian wells today and my buddies in Phoenix are running the same, Krap doesn't mother nature know it's fall

I have v-belts on the engine so it is probably a "normal" pump. We are on the road in Wyoming now and had a leak at the upper hose connection. Put some sealer in the rad. and it is stopped for now. Hope to be able to get back to Az. and then change it. If we get back then I will install a new pump, already changed the t-stat to 180' hi flow. Also replaced the fan clutch as the old one stayed engeged almost all the time. The Autozone severe duty fan clutch is working well, at least for now.
I may have an aluminum radiator made when we get back, have to see the cost difference.
Looked at the rad. installation close today and it appears it can be lifted out the opening for thr hood.Have thought about buying a rad. here in Casper to have along if the old one fails.
    Thanks, Mark

    Hello Leadman
My 83 was pulled from the front once the grill was removed...Very easy.
When I purchesed the 87 (454) the owners just changed radiators so I have NO idea if it came out the front or not.....
My bet is the 87 came out the front also and removing the front end stuff is a cakewalk....Reinstalled a 4 row (1/2) tube brass and the old one was a 4 row but it had (3/8) tubes PLUS only a 5 blade fan....
I'll bet your has a reverse flow water pump and since your in there I would reinstall a "Stewart pump" and thermostat, IF you need more info please contact me again..

Hello Jim, From reading some of your posts I think you have an older Winnie from the late '80s. I have an '87 that I need to replace the radiator on. Has a 454.
Have you replaced your radiator and if so did you remove it from the bottom or out the opening for the hood?
    Thanks, Leadman
