    GG1,

I saw your signature and the photo of the GG1 locomotive, and it brought back a bunch of old memories.

Back in the 1950s I grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs, not far from the Pennsy main line that ran the BoWash corridor. I always thought the GG1 was a lovely looking thing.

I am assuming that you are either a railroad man or a rail fan. My family had a lot of railroad in it. There was one uncle who was a switch/local conductor for the PRR, and another uncle who was a regional freight manager for the Reading RR.

My dad built passenger trains for the Budd Company, starting with the beautiful Zephyrs back in the 1930s. His last project was the first high-speed train that went between New York and Washington. That was in 1970.

In any event, I'm sorry to take up your time with memories from a perfect stranger. But I'll blame the photo of the GG1.
