Love the Jayco, no more engine noise than my Silverado had. At around 62 to 65 mph the engine is only turning over about 17 to 1800 rpm and there's almost no engine noise. Even when it downshifts to climb a steep grade it still barely jumps its noise level. Pulls like a locomotive from idle on up. If my Silverado had this engine I probably would've kept it. All the good points of the Duramax with none of the diesel issues.
It gets between 7 and 8 mpg towing our Honda Fit at 65 mph and the few times we've used it without the toad it jumped to between 8.5 to 9.5 mpg which really impressed me. I use a Scangauge 2 to track the mileage (back checked with a calculator) and it appears to be pretty accurate.
The 8.1 with the Allison tranny is the next best thing to sliced bread as far as I'm concerned! Can't go wrong with this combination.
